Bridal Shower Gifts

Over the weekend I attended a bridal shower for my cousin's fiancé. The theme for the shower was all kitchen related. We were asked to bring a recipe along with things  that could be used in the kitchen to make the recipe.

I always like to give personalized items when I can and I love giving handmade gifts. So this shower was perfect. My mom had the idea to give one of my Recipe for a Happy Marriage Cutting Boards personalized with their names. And I gave a set of Mr & Mrs Mason Jars with their last name and wedding date.

The bride-to-be even opened our gifts first and loved them both! The cutting board was perfect for the kitchen themed shower. And they're having an outdoor wedding and decorating with mason jars, so I knew the mason jars would be a perfect gift.

Do you like to give handmade gifts? Or do you stick to the registry?

  1. I think your gift choices are perfect! I'm not a fan of registries--too mass-market, too commercial. I'd take, or give, a personalized gift any day!

  2. I've only been to one wedding and I gave a gift card because they didn't have a registry. I think it would depend on the couple. I'm fortunate that a lot of my friends aren't getting married so I don't have to worry about spending money on travel or weddings.

  6. Such wonderful gifts! I would have loved to receive these at my bridal shower. I always try to give a little something handmade, even if just as a supplement to a registry gift. :)

  7. If I received that cutting board, I'd hang it on my wall -- I couldn't bear to use it! Both it and the glasses were perfect for that shower!
Any wedding I would go to now would be for a friend's child or grandchild, so I'd probably stick to the registry. But for a shower, I'd probably include a handmade add-on, especially for a kitchen themed shower!

  8. Wonderful gifts! I prefer personalized, handmade gifts if possible since they are way more memorable long after the blender has broken!

  9. Those are awesome gifts!
I agree with you about gift giving. For brides' gifts I generally pick a theme and give some items from the registry but then add others not requested as a surprise.

  10. I love the gift you gave at the shower! I always prefer handmade for gift giving. Lots of times there are handmade versions of whatever is on the registry list (not always). The mason jars are awesome!

  13. I love that breadboard! I'll bet it would be just as great for an anniversary as for a wedding or bridal shower.
