Country Life

Last week the sun popped out for a few days and I sure didn't want to miss it! I'd been seeing pictures of morel mushrooms on Facebook and wanted to do some looking of my own. Luckily we found a spot last year that's only about a mile from the house. It made for a nice walk...a little sun and little exercise :)

I found one right off the bat, but only found about 5 or 6 more. A nice start...let's just hope there are more out there in another week or two!

After my walk back, I took a stroll around the yard. Never hurts to look in your own trees, but no luck. It was still nice to just be outside and enjoy the country life :) Mama Kitty followed me on my walk around the yard.

And I can't go near the pasture without these two wanting some attention. At least in this picture they're inside the fence! They played escape artists yesterday and went to visit the neighbors...ugh!

Weeds or flowers? I'll let you decide. Either way, I think they're pretty :)

A couple more shots "touring" our property. I think those might be actual ladybugs, rather than those annoying beetles!

And after my walk, Harley and I hung out on the front steps and enjoyed some more sun. Gotta love that smile :)

Proposal Box

I love working with brides and grooms to create special items for their weddings. It makes me smile that I get to be a small part of their big day.
I was recently asked to create something special for a proposal! I was honored to be asked to create such a special piece for this fiance-to-be!

He had me create a custom box with lots of hearts and love quotes. Then I made some 4" x 6" wooden cards to fit inside the box. Each card represented a special part of their relationship.

I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. And the buyer was thrilled as well! His new bride-to-be loved every part of it. She's one lucky girl to get such a unique and special proposal :)

Where the Buffalo Roam

Sometimes on Friday afternoons Jesse and I like to hop in the car and cruise around the country side. It's a lot nicer now that the sun is starting to shine and the grass is starting to turn green. We just pick a direction and see where the road takes us. A couple weeks ago we wound up on a road close to Jesse's brother's, but one I'd never been on before, apparently. Because out of nowhere, there were buffalo!

I had no idea there were buffalo in this area and no idea they were this close to his brother's house! We drove by at the perfect time since they were eating right up close to the fence. I was a little worried that this one had his head out of the fence! But he popped back in pretty quick when I got out to take pictures. Of course Jesse wouldn't let me pet them...what a fun-hater...lol :)

These buffalo live on a ranch along with cows. Of course now my wheels are turning as to whether our fence will hold a buffalo (our cow did get out the other day!) and how young you can get them. They're just the coolest creatures to see up close! Wouldn't they make a fun pet :)

Life Lately

Things have been a little quiet here on the blog. I generally update my blog with new products for sale and things going on in our life. While things have been steady business-wise, I haven't really been working on anything new. And while life is always a little crazy, we haven't really been doing anything noteworthy recently either. Nothing I've felt compelled to blog about anyway...lol.

Last week we did celebrate my birthday, which was a wonderful day! Jesse actually took 2 days off work, so we went out to eat at a new restaurant on Wednesday night called Sauced. The shrimp fettuccine alfredo was delicious and so was the wine :)
Thursday was my actual birthday and I got a manicure and massage! We decided to eat out again (twist my arm) and Jesse suggested a place we hadn't been to in a while. Good thing I was happy to go there, because when we walked in, there was a table full of our friends and family waiting to surprise me! It really was a great day!
The next day a special package arrived with carpet for my car! Jesse is full of surprises! While we may have to send it back because it just doesn't quite fit, it really is the thought that counts on this one! Jesse knows how much I want to get my car finished so I can start driving it again. My original carpet guy can't get me in until June or July...ugh!

I do have a few other posts in mind, so I'm hoping to be around a little more. And I'm hoping to work on some new items and get out of the house once it starts warming up as well!

Friday Features - Baseball Baby Shower

2016 must be the "year of the baby"! Jesse and I currently have 5 cousins that are pregnant. That's a whole lot of baby showers and celebrating! The first shower will be held tomorrow and my cousin and his wife are having a baby boy with a baseball-themed shower. As usual, I wanted to make something special as a gift and I wanted to tie in with the theme. I came up with this cute picture frame for their Little Slugger :)

And since it's Friday, I went browsing for some other cute baseball themed baby gifts as well. Enjoy these finds!

Is there just something in the water here, or do you have lots of family and friends having babies this year too?
