I love getting to talk with and work with other artists. Bouncing ideas off each other and coming up with new projects is so fun! I've recently been working with a friend, Phillip, who owns Metaling in Art and does metalwork and woodworking.
Our first project started with me designing a logo for his business and then engraving this on both some wood pieces for tables as well as some steel tubing for table legs and other metal projects.
I then had a friend ask if I could engrave on silverware to be made into jewelry. I ran a few sample pieces and Phillip did the cutting and drilling for me. We started with a necklace and are working on a key chain. Thinking about adding rings and bracelets as well.
And when Phillip stopped by the other day, we brainstormed ideas for cutting boards and recipe boxes that I have lying around that have blemishes and aren't suitable to sell as-is. I can't stand to just toss them, but have tons of they stacking up! So we're hoping to have new ideas for those soon as well!
Have you worked on any collaborations lately?
What a cool collaboration! The logo looks great engraved on the wood table! LOVE the feather on the repurposed cutlery!
ReplyDeleteGreat collaboration! I love the logo. Great idea to engrave on the spoon jewelry. I look forward to seeing what else you guys come up with. It must be awesome now having your workshop where you can bring fellow creatives to work together like this. :)
ReplyDeleteThere you go again--doing smart, creative things for your business. Great ideas!
ReplyDeleteI love working with another artist - it not only is a great way to share ideas, but a great incentive to keep exploring other ventures.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend (also on Etsy)-we met 36 yrs ago when our daughters were Newborns. As stay at home moms, and both crafters, we began taking quilting and sewing courses together. She now moved a few towns away - so at least once a week we get together and work together on our various crafts. She will teach me new quilting ideas (just learned doing a crazy quilt) and I show her different beading designs.
Such cool colabs! I haven't worked with other people on Etsy, but my husband has been getting increasingly into photography and we've been working on projects together. Does that count?
ReplyDeleteGreat collaborations! I have only worked with you on necklaces but it's pretty cool you've worked with so many people!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you guys are working on next! It seems like a great way to keep the business always evolving and customers coming back.
ReplyDeleteThose came out gorgeous! I love how the logo came out on the table. I love and miss doing collaborations, it's been a while for me. I need to at least do some craft nights to fill the void in the meantime.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this look Edi!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun collaborations, Edi!
ReplyDeletegreat job on the logo!
Yes, I've collaborated. What comes to the front of my mind right now is a creative camp for kids that a friend and I put together and ran for 3 years.
