Something I've been wanting to do for several years now is visit the zoo. I live just an hour from the top ranked zoo in the world and I haven't been in almost 10 years! On Tuesday, I took a friend out for lunch and pedicures. Afterwards, we were trying to decide what to do next when she mentioned that she had a family pass to the zoo...SCORE! I wish I had my real camera with me, but these cell phone pics will have to do. Enjoy this photo-heavy post :)
Beautiful flowers in the Rainforest
Several cool displays of jellyfish in the Aquarium
Sorry buddy...no food for you!
The peacocks are so pretty! Until this one dive-bombed me! Just look as his sinister face!
Seriously the cutest thing we saw all day!!! In the Orangutan Forest
This guy was deep in thought
And these two were cuddling away :)
Almost all of the cats were sleeping, but this guy sure was cute :)
A cool view at the Desert Dome!
We got there kind of late, so some of the buildings were closing. I hope to go back and see the Butterfly Pavilion and of course stop at the Petting Zoo :)
Looks like a wonderful afternoon (except for the peacock!) it always amazes me about larger birds like that. My brother was attacked by a swan who thought he was just a tad too close. Loved 'the thinker' and that sweet baby
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun outing!! And those are some cool pics. That zoo is SO big--hard to see everything in one trip!
ReplyDeleteI love all animals, but orang-utans have a special place in my heart. I volunteered at a sanctuary back when I lived in Indonesia. They are such intelligent creatures! Wonderful pics and I'm glad you had a nice day out with your friend :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day (minus the bird attack, ha)! He definitely has a sinister glint in his eye.
ReplyDeleteThe last time I was at a zoo, it was a small one somewhere in Wisconsin and the facilities were pretty dismal. I'm glad to see one that's highly rated with happy animals!
How fun to see all the animals. The baby monkey is the cutest! Peacock amaze me with their color and the markings on their feathers. So stunning.
ReplyDeleteOh the baby is so cute! I love the big cats and how they look so much like my little cats!
ReplyDeleteYes that peacock does look menacing! Oh go back and see the butterfly pavilion! Those are just awesome!
ReplyDeleteHow awesome that you got to visit the zoo in Omaha! I've only been once, and it was amazing. The baby orangutan is too cute, and of course I love the lion on his back.
ReplyDeleteIn the minute I saw triangle glass dome pic I thought of Paris and Louvre! haha....I don't know why Paris is always on my mined! I have peacocks in my backyard visiting sometimes, and I tried so many time take a pictures and it always a blurry :( they moved constantly!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, Edi! I think the last time we were at the Henry Doorly Zoo was about 10 (or more) years ago, too. We're overdue for a visit. It's a wonderful place!
ReplyDeleteAwww that orangutan baby is so cute!!! I love zoo trips, I don't know how many times we have visited the zoo here in Singapore, but it is always fun, in fact we visited a few days back and saw cute "Koalas" for the first time, they are on loan from Australia, and also saw 3 Meerkat babies, they were adorable:)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cool and fun way to spend your day.

What great pictures! We had so much fun taking Essley to the zoo a couple of weeks ago. Glad you had fun! :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I love that jellyfish picture! Oh and the baby orangutan. So cute! I love the primates whenever I visit the zoo; I could spend hours watching the chimpanzees.
ReplyDeleteOh what fun! I've been wanting to go to the zoo for quite a long time myself. (There is a great zoo in town.)
ReplyDeletelove all the animal photos. The baby orangutan is so cute!
