Last Friday I headed down to Branson to see my parents. Jesse was originally supposed to go with me, but things just got too busy. And rather than miss the trip altogether, I decided to make the trip on my own. I'd never driven that far by myself (about 6 to 6.5 hours), but now I can say I did it :) And I know if I ever need to do it again, it will be a breeze.
One of my favorite things about visiting my parents is the view! They have the most gorgeous view from their back deck! I took multiple shots of the view at different times of day. No matter the time, the view is always amazing!
On Saturday, we braved the heat (about 96 degrees F) to go to a car show in Arkansas. My family loves vintage cars and I remember going to car shows with my parents my whole life. It's always fun to find a new location and see new cars.
After the hot day of walking around, we enjoyed an afternoon boating and floating out on the lake. I only took my cell phone with me, so no photos from the water!
The above photos are an iconic Branson attraction called Ride the Ducks. I remember riding on these several times during my childhood vacations to Branson. These are amphibious vehicles that take you on a tour of Branson and then out on the lake! It's always fun watching them splash into the water!
While the drive wasn't all that fun, it was sure a relaxing trip once I got there. Coffee on the deck every morning and floating in the lake in the afternoons...I could get used to that :)
Those cars are awesome, and I like your (new?) layout with the feathers :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Marieken! Yes, new design. The old one didn't fit my new computer monitor (and I assume many others), so it was time for an upgrade!
DeleteWow! That view from your parents' deck is amazing! Have you ever been to Boston? They have duck boats that do tours through the city and then go, splash, into the Charles River--such fun!
ReplyDeleteThat's great to know they have them in Boston as well. They're so fun because you get a city tour and time on the water :)
DeleteSo glad you got some R&R time, but sorry Jesse couldn't go. LOVE that view! And that's quite a hot rod! The kids and I rode duck boats in Boston. Great fun. I also like your feathers.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Jesse will get to make the next trip with me.
DeleteThe funny thing is...that hot rod is almost identical to ours! Same year and same motor! We just got ours street legal earlier this month and now just need a windshield.
Glad you went and got a little R&R. I'm thinking I need to do it too. Branson photos are beautiful, Wisconsin also has the ducks and the tour is terrific. One of my friends just went on a Model A tour in Branson.
ReplyDeleteThat's really cool about the Model A tour, Linda! My parents saw them come through and where they all stayed!
DeleteThe view is absolutely gorgeous! Must be so nice having coffee overlooking the lake :) Fun cars! Oh, I'd love to take a ride on that amphibious boat! I really dislike long drives....
ReplyDeleteLove those cars! Looks like you had quite an adventure on your own! Cool:)
ReplyDeleteBtw lovely new background!
That view is lovely! Glad you enjoyed your visit with your parents and even got to a car show too! We road a duck ride in Ketchikan, Alaska last summer which was fun!
ReplyDeleteYour parents have an amazing view. I love how it looks at night with the twinkling lights around the lake. Boston has duck tours on the amphibious vehicles for the tourists. Such a fun way to see a city and learn its history! You are brave making a 6 hour drive on your own. I imagine it requires all your favorite music! :-)
ReplyDeletei love Branson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! been only there twice ......hope you had fun!

In all of my cross country travels/road trips, I have somehow never been to Branson, but it looks so fun. I'm glad you had a nice trip!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you had such a good trip! The views from the deck are gorgeous, and how fun to go to a car show. They have duck rides up here in the Wisconsin Dells, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI saw some of these photos on fb and the view of the lake looks awesome. It looks like you had a nice time. Good thing you decided to travel by yourself. Its pretty awesome when you realize you can do something like travel 6hrs with no problems. I traveled from NYC to Va to visit Ryan when he first moved here and that was a trip. 8hrs in the car by myself. I definitely went crazy.
ReplyDeleteYour parents DO have an awesome view! I've been on the Ducks a few times, but never in Branson. We did them at the Wisconsin Dells when I was a kid, and again in Alaska a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteI think traveling alone is kind of fun! I've flown solo a handful of times and it's nice to zen out with a book and a cocktail. :-)
what a view! hope you're having a great visit
ReplyDeleteThe view looks amazing! Looks like such a fun trip!
ReplyDeleteI love Branson and the views! When I was in college down in Springfield, MO we often stole away to Branson for some fun. All sorts of things to see and do in Branson. Fond memories of days gone by. :)
ReplyDeleteBeen to Branson, loved it! The hills and lakes around that part of Arkansas is awesome! My dad was born in Arkansas, but haven't been there enough!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great vacation, I am glad you still went on it even though Jesse could not join. A trip like that can go pretty fast if you get some great music prepared. And that view is fabulous! I am glad you enjoyed it. And I am also glad to hear you braved the heat and went to the car show!
