First Fall Show 2016

I'm happy to report that my first fall show for this year was a great success! And, as always, I learned that you can't outguess your customers!

My metal tumblers and cozies did really, really well. In fact, I ran out of one design on Saturday and had to come home to get more made to bring for Sunday!

I was a little disappointed that my new painted signs didn't sell as well as I had hoped. I thought these would be a really popular item. But in the end, I only sold a few. I did sell quite a few of the bottle opener signs, so that was nice. I'm hoping they do well at my other shows.

I sold a nice mix of other items as well. I really think it helps me to have a variety of items without looking like a hodge podge. The items tie well together, but I have something for everyone.

My next show is this coming Saturday, so I'm stocking back up to prepare!

  2. You really do have something for everyone! I know it's hard to please every single customer - personally I think the signs are awesome and will definitely sell well at Etsy :)

    1. Thanks, Duni! If they don't sell at my next 2 shows, I'll be giving Etsy a try :)

  3. Congratulations on a successful weekend Edi! It is funny when things work out differently than you expected. I imagine many people will continue to buy your tumblers and cozies as holiday gifts.

  4. Congratulations on a successful show! Selling out is a great problem to have!
Every show can be different in what sells.
Interestingly, I've sold a LOT of scrunchies online, but very little at shows. The reasons are not always easy to discern.
    Your display looks wonderful--very attractive!

    1. I find that as well. What sells online and what sells in person are always different!

  5. Everything looks so great! When I had my clothing line and would vend music festivals I swear I was always wrong about what people would buy - even when I did some of the same festivals year after year!

  7. I was wondering how you did --great that you sold out of the tumblers the first day! I always envision selling out of something the first day, but it usually doesn't happen!

    1. Thanks, Linda! I try to stock up so this doesn't happen. But it is a nice "problem" to have :)

  9. Congrats on the tumbler sales! Signs are kind of like that for me, too. Ones I think are super cute and I'm sure people will love go nowhere, but then people really like the most random one I almost didn't even make. Go figure!

    1. I hear ya! You can never outguess your buyers! I've listed things on a fluke before and still have some of those items in my shop to this day.

  10. You displays look awesome, very polished and professional. Glad you did well, too! :) It's almost universal with markets, the item you think will sell the most doesn't and a random one almost sells out, you basically have to throw a bunch out there and see what gets them, like you said ;) haha

    1. I agree. I'm glad I have a nice mix of items. If one thing doesn't get their attention, hopefully something else will :)

  11. Edi, your displays look great! I haven't been blog reading for quite some time, glad to see things are going well & you can do some market research while you're out and selling. "Something for everyone" sure is key at craft fairs, you sound prepared so you're bound to have a great season.

  12. Your booth looks awesome. It surprises me that those signs didn't do very well. Maybe adding some hooks so they can function as coatracks as well?

    1. I did have some that were bottle openers as well and they seemed to sell better. So I think you're on to something with the hooks! I'll have to give that a try on some new ones.

  13. It's always so hard to know what is and isn't going to sell. It's disappointing about the wooden signs, but I'm glad that the tumblers and cozies did so well. I like the idea about adding hooks to some of the signs. Good luck with the next show!
