Almost Wordless Wednesday - 2 and a Half Cats

Meet the newest kitty at our house :) He's still pretty skiddish, but I can pet him if he's eating. He's slowly coming around. For now, we call him "half a cat". As in, we don't officially have three cats, but we do have two and a half...lol.

Holding On

While I'm enjoying seeing everyone's beautiful fall photos, I'm also holding on to every last bit of the warm weather and colorful scenery while I can. I'm really having hard time this year with the end of summer. We had so much fun this year and I hate to see our days of boating and long weekends come to an end!

So I took a stroll around the yard the other day to document the last bits of summer color I could. Our miniature rose is still blooming in full force. It's right by the mailbox, so I see it every day :) Our knock out roses are still blooming as well, but they're fading fast.

I even caught a glimpse of a few dandelions trying to hold on. Nuisance or not, I still think they're pretty. The white ones AND the yellow ones (inside joke here)!

How about you? Are you ready for pumpkins and sweatshirts? Or are you yearning for a few more days of summer?

Flowers & Weeds

Back in April I shared some photos of my some-day lilac bushes. And I promised to share more photos when they finally bloomed. Well...they didn't bloom this year. I planted them as sticks last year, so I'm hoping they will finally bloom next year. But they are growing and getting bigger, so my fingers are crossed!

While out taking a photo of the lilacs, I decided to get pictures of my other "flowers" around the yard. I'm very grateful for my roses as they come back every year and require very little effort otherwise. If you're a regular reader, you know I'm not so great at taking care of plants. This one above is a knock-out.

And these are miniature roses.

I also enjoy seeing color around the yard, even when others may see these as weeds.

These thistles are so pretty when they bloom. And I even caught a bumble bee having a snack :)
These are out in the pasture, but truth be told, we did have to mow them off so they don't spread any worse. While I like their color, they are a noxious weed. Glad I got some photos before they disappeared :)

Almost Wordless Wednesday - A Horse, Of Course

I wonder if this is what a horse selfie would look like :)

Such a pretty girl!

Farm Life

A friend of ours that Jesse works with just had baby goats! (Okay, HE didn't have the goats...lol) And I've been telling Jesse forever how cute they are and that we should get one. Even better that they're pigmy goats! So on Sunday we took a little cruise to his farm to check out the babies.
I still can't get over how cute these little guys are! Now if this was an infant child, I'd be adoring from afar (like, from the other side of the room). But when it comes to baby animals, I just can't get enough of them!

This little guy was so calm the entire time I held him...until I started to take his picture. This is what human babies do when I hold them too, which is why I keep my distance...lol. But this little guy's cry was even cute :)

This was quite a visit as there were many goats and even sheep too. There was only one of the larger goats that would let us pet him, but you know I was all over that too :)

And he had a baby calf too! I forget how little these guys are when they're being bottle fed. This one looked like a little deer due to its coloring.

The verdict is still out on whether we'll get to bring a baby home when it gets weened, but I sure did take a liking to the little black and white one :)
