I knew when I started making my Real Wood Greeting Cards that I loved them and thought they were such an original idea...but I didn't know how others would view them. I can never outguess my buyers and I never know what will sell and what won't...LOL :)
But I'm happy to report that my cards are a hit! I've taken custom orders for cards at both fall shows so far and over the weekend I sold two more on Etsy! They got a lot of attention at the last show and people loved how unique they were :) I was afraid people might not realize what they were, so I kept explaining them, but everyone seemed to know and really like them!
I want to ask my readers for your help! What new designs would you like to see? I have several birthday cards and one congrats card, but I need new ideas! I'd like to incorporate an owl in one since owls are so cute :) (Whoooo Loves You)
What occasions do you buy cards for the most? What images would you like to see? I'd like to add about 20 different options for cards, so I'm open to all your ideas :)
what about an anniversary card with a tree with the couple's initials carved in a heart? it would fit well with the natural wood I think.
ReplyDeleteEdi-i love Jenny's idea! And to answer your question, I mostly send b-day & anniversary cards.
ReplyDeleteHave you done children's bday cards? I send Thanksgiving cards out to friends because it is my favorite holiday.
ReplyDeleteWhat an idea! I love anniversary cards and new baby born cards, but happy birthday card is my favourite.

Jenny's idea is great Edi! Bet they would sell for every occasion.
ReplyDeleteI mostly send "just because/think of you" cards. Thinking of the senders face with a thought bubble?
Jenny's anniversary card sounds so cute. What about a thank you card ~ I never seems to just the right one.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of "thinking of you" cards...
ReplyDeletethe cards are great! I buy cards for birthdays and condolescences (sp?) I think the cards would be good for men, especially. "Hope you catch a big one" (or something similar) with a fish! {:-D
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of the tree. How about footprints for a baby?
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a word card before! What a cool and different idea..and this is something that you would keep forever!
ReplyDeleteThose cards are such a great and unique idea. How about... Just thinking of you, I miss you and Congratulations. Can't wait to see more designs :)
ReplyDeleteYou know what I'd suggest! I mainly send cards for birthdays and anniversaries and some holidays. I would think something like Jenny suggested would be great for an anniversay since people would be most likely to save it. Milestone birthday cards (30th, 40th, etc.) would be more likely to be saved too.
ReplyDeleteI love these, they are great, although i wood be worried they would break... get it?
ReplyDeleteI send the most cards as invitations. Perhaps even wedding notifications or save the days for a more rustic or outdoor affair.
YES! So glad they're a success —and it has just started; the possibilities are endless!
ReplyDeleteI buy lots of cards around Xmas.
I agree with anniversaries. Mother's Day, Father's Day, and graduations are all popular, too. Birthdays are the biggest thing that I send cards for so I'd definitely make a few more of those. Maybe some cards for round number birthdays (20, 30, 40, etc.)?
ReplyDeleteI can never guess what will be popular with my buyers either. I'm glad that these are doing so well, though!
ReplyDeleteI think people like the fact that they are personalized and your images are so nice. They are also such a nice greeting card because it's something the person can keep and they can display it, and it doesn't take much room to store later. They are beautiful. I'd leave mine out forever!
ReplyDeleteLOL, All the ideas I had seemed to be given already. :) But I agree, Mother's Day, Father's Day, graduation cards, etc. :) Even Grandparents Day would be a good time - and Valentines! :)
