Cards for Children

I love finding ways to donate to charities or give back to the community. And I love it even more when I can do this through my crafting!

Erika of Artful Rising recently posted that she would be donating to Cards for Children for the Ronald McDonald House. She asked her fellow readers to help as well and I knew this was perfect for me!

I used to sell greeting cards at craft shows, but have gotten away from them and have been doing other projects lately. But I still had so many cards that needed a good home...the Cards for Children project was perfect! Here are a few of the cards I sent to Erika to pass along to the Ronald McDonald House.

Wood Cards Are a Hit

I knew when I started making my Real Wood Greeting Cards that I loved them and thought they were such an original idea...but I didn't know how others would view them. I can never outguess my buyers and I never know what will sell and what won't...LOL :)

But I'm happy to report that my cards are a hit! I've taken custom orders for cards at both fall shows so far and over the weekend I sold two more on Etsy! They got a lot of attention at the last show and people loved how unique they were :) I was afraid people might not realize what they were, so I kept explaining them, but everyone seemed to know and really like them!

I want to ask my readers for your help! What new designs would you like to see? I have several birthday cards and one congrats card, but I need new ideas! I'd like to incorporate an owl in one since owls are so cute :) (Whoooo Loves You)

What occasions do you buy cards for the most? What images would you like to see? I'd like to add about 20 different options for cards, so I'm open to all your ideas :)

Real Wood Greeting Cards

I am so excited to finally get these super cute cards listed in my Etsy Shop!!! I've been working on them for a while now and am so happy with how they turned out!

I've been making these for everyone I know and am so excited to offer them in custom options in my shop! Add your own personal message to each one :) These are all 1/8" thick so they really make a statement! And after the celebration...they can be put on display!

Happy Mother's Day

I want to wish all the mothers out there Happy Mother's Day! To all those with kiddos or furbabies, I hope you have a very special day :) And I want to send out a special Happy Mother's Day to my mom! She really is THE BEST! She is always there for me, encourages me in everything I do and helps me to be a better person! Happy Mother's Day Mom :) And here is the card she got today! You knew it would be laser engraved, didn't you! I always try to send a special, handmade card each year and this year I wanted to try my hand with my laser engraver! I love the lasered photos!!!

April Giveaway!!!

No joke about it...another giveaway today!!! First I'd like to announce the winner of my March Giveaway...The Giveaway Diva. Random.org chose lucky # 27. The Diva has so many great giveaways on her blog that I suppose random.org knew it was her turn to win :)

Now onto the April Giveaway. I was going to do a Mother's Day card since it is just around the corner...but I couldn't resist doing a Birthday Card. This is, after all, my birth month...so I have birthdays on the brain!!! (April 7th in case you wanted to know when to send my present!)

This card is made with a textured lavender cardstock base. I then took another piece of textured cardstock and added even more texture with a dry embossing folder. I layered on a light yellow cardstock strip, some patterned paper pieces and a Happy Birthday sentiment. I added a yellow flower with a purple rhinestone to top it off :) I love how this card has so much dimension to it!

Cards...My Beginning

Scrapbooking is by far my favorite paper craft, but it all started with handmade greeting cards. I started making cards about 12 years ago. Rubber stamps are what started it all. And what an addiction it was to get new stamps. Luckily when I got started, my mom was the one buying the hundreds of dollars worth of supplies :) (Thanks Mom!)

I make all my own cards for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, etc. I could never go to the store and buy a card ever again! I love the personal touch a handmade card provides. I always put something pretty on the envelope as well. That way the recipient knows they are getting something cute inside :)

I still use stamps on some of my cards, but I love to try all sorts of mediums. I use felt, paper flowers, stitching (hand and machine), brads, buttons, and much more. Anything fairly flat that will go through the mail easily. I like to personalize my cards too. I use the person's name or their favorite color to make it even more special. My sister-in-law's birthday is on St. Patty's Day, so she always gets a green card. Sometimes I use clovers and other times I just make sure to use green.
