Going With the Flow

Most days, I'm a planner. I have my day planned out the minute I wake up and my to do list ready to be tackled. I like order and routine. But the last couple weeks have challenged my daily routines and I've had to learn to go with the flow a little more. With Jesse being off work (for 4-6 weeks!), my life has changed drastically from when he was working. It's really great having him home more, so I'm making some changes in other areas to make sure I still get everything done that needs done.

As I'm sure you've noticed, my poor blog has been a little neglected the last couple weeks. I used to write my posts the night before and schedule them for the morning. Now that time is being spent cooking supper and watching movies with Jesse. Sometimes there just isn't time to get everything done! And I know Jesse will be back to work soon and I'll have my routine back. So for now, I'm enjoying the extra time together and letting a few things slide.

Now that Jesse is finally feeling a little better (but still can't lift anything), we've been taking a few road trips and spending more time with family. Usually Jesse is sleeping when everyone else is out and about. So we've been taking advantage of this time and seeing our family during the week when we normally wouldn't.

I still plan to try to blog 3-4 times per week. But I wanted to give my awesome readers a heads up as to why my posts are a little more scattered than they normally would be. I should be back to a normal blogging schedule in the next few weeks. Just in time for the fall rush :)

  1. I'm glad Jesse is feeling better - I hope he takes it easy for the next few weeks!
I've got my work routine perfected, so disruptions aren't welcome, but they do happen and I basically have to accept it :)

  3. Good to hear Jesse is feeling better! It's so nice that you're able to spend time together! I know what you mean about a work routine, I'm beginning to develop my 'working at home' routine but it sure seems life has a way of disrupting that routine quite a bit... And you're right, when it does, it's best to go with the flow. Thank you for your post today!! Enjoy movie watching and visits with family... That's very important and special time spent!!!

  7. I can completely relate to this because my husband is the Stage Manager for a band and is gone half the year, home half the year. So he'll be gone for a month and then home nonstop did 2 weeks or longer. It's a big adjustment when he leaves and when he comes back, mainly because I work from a home studio. I'm glad Jesse is feeling better and that you're able to enjoy your time together. :)

  8. I somehow missed the post about Jesse's surgery altogether so I had no idea--so sorry it happened and so happy to hear he's doing well now! You have your priorities just right, I think!

  12. I'm with you on preferring to have a routine and a plan for my day, but I'm glad that you can use some of this time to spend together watching movies and visiting family. We'll all still be here reading, no matter how often you post. :)

  13. Enjoy your time together (even if it's not the ideal circumstances, it sounds like he'll get some needed TLC)!
Love that Family Routine sign, going to click through now and see if there's a place for it in my home.

  15. Love the family routine print! We need that in this house!

I know what you mean that having him home is messing with your routine, but it's good. My husband used to sail on ships and be gone 4 months at a time, and then home for 4 months. It was kind of like living two different lives, but I LOVED having him home. Just adapt the best you can and enjoy it!
