Just Roll with the Punches

Well, I was hoping to have a studio update for you this week. The trusses were delivered on Tuesday and we had planned on putting them up Friday and Saturday. Life had other plans for us and Wednesday morning Jesse wound up in the emergency room for 5 hours, then had to meet a specialist on Thursday and had surgery on Friday! Definitely not what we had on our to do list. But when life tells you to slow down, you better listen!

Jesse is healing well and I won't get into too many details here on the blog, but we are still awaiting results from the surgery and more treatment may be required. In the meantime, he's on a 10 lb. weight restriction, so putting trusses on our addition just isn't happening. So we're trying to decide if we ask family to take on this task or just break down and hire a contractor to get things finished up before winter rears its ugly head.

This year has sure been a challenge with 3 family deaths, 2 close family friends being diagnosed with stage 4 cancers and now Jesse's unexpected surgery. But even with all the bad, we have had many good things happen this year. With every blow, we roll with the punches. We look at our lives and see how blessed we are. We're not the type of people who dwell on the negative and always look for the silver lining.

Hug your family today and think of all the ways you are blessed. I know I will be :)

  4. Thinking of you and Jesse. You have had a rough year!

Could you hire a contractor for the hard part -- wielding those heavy trusses and getting them secured? Then rely on family help once it is enclosed? Winter will be here before we know it.

Love the Roll With the Punches necklace. Stay strong!

  6. Oh no! This isn't good news at all. I hope Jesse is doing well and hopefully doesn't need more treatment. Have you been looking at contractor costs? I hope your family will be able to help you out a little bit. I know it's a big job, though. What a year it's been. Through all the bad, you're still so positive in your thinking, and that's such a great thing! Hang in there, and know you inspire others to stay positive too.

  15. I hope Jesse pulls through well! Life certainly has a way of throwing curve balls. I try to think of everything happening for a reason (although the reason can be difficult to figure out). It has been a rough year for you so I hope 2014 is a fabulous year to balance it out. Stay positive. That positive energy will rub off onto Jesse helping him heal quicker. :)
