USPS Rate Increases

Effective today, the US Postal Service will be raising rates again. Luckily they're not as drastic as last year, but there are some significant changes. Etsy has put together a pretty good graph of the most effected areas for domestic and international shipping changes.

The rates that I'm seeing the most significant changes to are stamps themselves, going from 46 cents to 49 cents. And 1-3 oz First Class Packages going from $1.69 to $1.93. Small flat rate boxes will also go up 10 cents.

Luckily Etsy makes it very easy for sellers to make changes to their shipping profiles. On the left hand side of the page there is a category labeled Shipping Profiles. From there, you will see all the profiles you have created. On the right hand side there is a place to edit your profiles.

Once you click edit, you can make the necessary changes to your profile and edit all of your listings in this shipping profile at once.

  1. We've had a slight increase as well, but thankfully international shipping rates remain untouched!

  2. Over here too! Before, there were different rates for Europe and countries outside of Europe, there is one stamp for both now, and rates went up quite a bit.

  3. I made my changes on Saturday. I realized Sunday morning I screwed up my ebay shop's shipping. Somehow the international shipping deleted! All fixed now (I think)!

  5. Uuuuuugh. I'm glad I'm not selling jewelry anymore, because a lot of my items were in the 1-3 ounce range. I think if the post office just worked on their customer service, more people would use them and then they wouldn't have to keep jacking up the prices.

  6. I'm thankful for the easy chart and the new shipping profiles, but I'm so irritated with the rate increases!! Most of my things fall into that 1-3 oz rate that's gone up so much since I started my shop.

  7. Thanks for the details! Like others who have commented, I also ship a lot of 1-3 oz packages and am disappointed to be raising my shipping rates again.

  8. Thanks for the reminder! Most of the items I ship exceed 3 ounces, so hopefully I will not have to adjust my rates too much.

  9. I actually remembered to change my profiles yesterday since most of my packages are 2-3 oz. Kind of a bummer those went up the most though.
