Mistake? What Mistake :)

Over the weekend I attended my cousin's baby shower. I knew I wanted to make her something personalized since they had the baby's name chosen and colors and decor for his nursery.

I decided on a cute painted sign with his name and some arrows on it. I thought I had this designed to fit the entire board, but got my dimensions off and only engraved 12 inches instead of 18! Many times when "mistakes" occur in engraving, there isn't much to do in ways of fixing it. But I was determined to find a way to make this sign work. That's when I came up with the idea to add a wooden frame! I cut the frame and a second wooden piece as a ledge to go behind it that the picture can just be slid into from the top.

Viola! Mistake? What Mistake :)

Life Lately

As I mentioned in Tuesday's post, life has been pretty busy the last few weeks. And with summer almost here, I'm hoping to be out and about more often as well!

My parents were here for about 10 days over Memorial Weekend and the following week. So I was spending as much time with them as I could while sneaking in work where I could as well. My dad and I had planned on going fishing, but it decided to downpour half the time they were here. So it was super muddy and the ponds were even muddy from the runoff, so fishing was out. Instead we took a day to work on Gladys to get her lights working properly...thanks Dad!
And my mom and I got to spend some time visiting friends and running errands together. I even put her to work a little as well...thanks Mom!

And we got to go on our Airboat Maiden Voyage on Sunday! The weather was perfect...blue skies and a light breeze. We've had so much rain that the river has been too high to boat safely, so we've been waiting for the right time. We're hoping to get out again this weekend as well...bring on the sunshine!!

What have you been up to lately?

Gladys' First Car Show

It's been a busy couple of weeks, but the highlight was definitely Gladys' First Car Show! It was so fun getting her out and showing her off! But I will say, it was a lot of work too. Shamee-ing (spelling?) a station wagon takes forever! But it was well worth it :)

And Jesse took our '39 Chevy as well. It was so cool having both cars at the show!

While we didn't win any prizes, we had a great day. I love looking at all the other beautiful cars and talking with other car enthusiasts. It's always fun to tell people how Gladys got her name and how she is a 4th generation family car. You sure don't see many Ramblers around anymore, so she always gets lots of looks!

One really cool thing we saw was etched car windows! How cool would it be to put Gladys' name on one of the windows!! Of course the glass has to be taken out and put back in, but it might just happen!
We have some friends that are completely restoring and old Dodge car and don't have glass in it yet. They loved the idea of having their daughter-in-law draw something special and having me etch it on their windows! Who knew these lasers had so many possibilities!
