Rosalee's Blanket

Every time my parents come to visit, they seem to bring more things back for me. They have been storing all of my old toys/baby clothes/collectibles/etc. since I graduated and they give it back to me little by little. And now that they're getting closer to retirement...they bring even more back...LOL! During this last visit, I got a very special item back...my baby blanket! I was so happy they had kept it and so happy to have it back :) A good friend of my grandparents made this for me when I was born. Her name was Rosalee...and the blanket has been forever called my Rosalee's Blanket :) I went in search of a photo of Rosalee's Blanket and got lost for hours looking at old photos! It is one of my favorite things to do! I found this old Polaroid of my brother and I lying on the kitchen floor with Rosalee's Blanket :) How cute! And here she is now...a little tattered, but not in too bad of shape. She still holds a special place in my heart and I'm glad to have her in my possession again!!!

Treasures In Action

My great-grandma's necklace was a hit! I wore it to a birthday party Saturday night and got SO many complements :) Of course I had to tell them the story behind the necklace...which made them love it even more!
Since going back to work, my wardrobe has pretty much consisted of pony tails, work jeans and t-shirts. It was kind of nice to get a little dressed up :) I curled my hair, made myself a new flower bobby pin, and put on my fancy necklace :)
A girl's gotta sparkle once in a while :)

And The Treasures Keep Coming!

Before I took my grandma to the airport this past weekend, she called me into the house and told me she had something she wanted to give me. I'm always up for gifts :) Imagine my surprise when she came out with this beautiful necklace!!!
And what's even better...it was my great grandmother's. My grandma had given it to her mother as a Christmas gift some years back and thought I would like to have it! Not only is it a treasure...it's very stylish!
In fact, I think I'll wear it out to eat Saturday night...I like it against this black turtleneck :) I might throw on a jean jacket with it too.
I told my grandma that I would like to sit down with her when she returns home and hear the stories about all of her jewelry. That way when it comes time (hopefully many years from now!) for me to choose what heirlooms I want...I will be able to choose not just the prettiest ones, but the ones with the most meaning :) I encourage you to do the same...sit and chat with your parents or grandparents and hear the stories of their treasures :)
