I had my first fall show this weekend and it went pretty well. We had awesome traffic all day Saturday. Which says a lot for a show that runs from 9am-8pm....long day! The general consensus from the vendors was that we had a lot of lookers, but not as many buyers. I'm pretty used to this since a lot of what I sell is custom. I did hand out tons of business cards, so now I just have to wait and see if the sales come in :)
September is a hard month for shows because it's too far away from Christmas, but it's also close enough people are thinking about saving their money for the holidays. That's the nice thing about having a website, they can find me any time of year when they're ready to buy :)
I did get a chance to try out a few of my new display items. I found out that my jewelry tree looks great, but isn't as functional as I hoped for. The branches are kind of all stacked on top of each other, so the pieces tend to bunch up. I put a few pieces on it, but laid out most of my new jewelry on the table instead.
My new wine bottle stopper holder that I talked about here worked great. I ended up painting it pink (seen in the right side of this photo). I think this helped them stand out and these sold pretty well.
The other displays are key chains and ornaments. They're a little hard to see in the photo, but these hangers worked out great for both items.
Here's a shot of my whole booth. I have two 5' tables as well as the wooden display at the end. This set up seems to work well for me when I'm able to be placed on an end section. My next show is only 3 weeks away...time to stock back up!
The pink tree and the bottle stop holder are really eyecatching!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about September - I'm sure all those people will look you up online :) Good luck with stocking up for your next show!
Edi, sounds like you did have a good show...I love, love , love your display with that awesome necklace tree. I once had a boss of mine in retail tell me Sept was a hard month because people were anticipating their tax bills having to be paid...URGH.
ReplyDeleteReally lovely display and I wish you many more good fall shows.

Wow, you got a big booth space! The outdoor shows I have make you use a 10x10 tent (which is fine for me) but every indoor show I've ever done gives you one 6' table. That's it. Even for me and my tiny items, that can be a little tight.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you did pretty well! Hopefully all of those business cards will turn into online sales.
Looks GOOD!!
ReplyDeleteSeptember is a great time to start thinking about what to buy friends and family for the holidays. I bet your table gave them ideas!
9:00am-8:00pm? what are they thinking? that is very long. Look's like you have a whole lot of inventory. Best of luck with all your fall shows and more!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Lots of space! I, too, am used to a 10 by 10 foot space outdoors, if you can stand the heat and about a 5 by 8 (smashed up against the next vendor's back or the wall).
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good show. I am sure the sales will start coming in soon. You have lots of great display ideas and they looked great on your table. It must have been nice to have 10"+ space, I did a show once that was 6'x6', it is very challenging to cram a lot of merchandise on a 6' table. Have fun building up all your inventory for your next show.

I'm glad that the show went well and that so many of your displays were successful! It's great that so many of your new items are selling regularly. Best of luck preparing for the next show. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a very long day! Glad it was a success though and hope your next ones are even more successful!
ReplyDeleteI love how the wine stopper holder turned out! What a great shade of pink! I do agree about the tree though. Can you make one with the branches a little more spread out? Over all I think you table looks fab! Good luck with getting ready for your next show!
ReplyDeletethe table looks great! Glad the bottle stoppers were a hit - what a great present and something fun for the house. Hope you get end display section on the shows to come! {:-D
ReplyDeleteYour tables are very eye catching and I'm glad your bottle stopper display worked so well. The next show will be here before you know it!
ReplyDeleteYour tables look great and I am sure you have had more sales than most, with your professional approach. I like the tree and the jewelry, and I wonder why you do not have all these small things in the shop? They are very nice and really unusual. Trinket lovers like me would be drawn to these things.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! It's always nice to have an early test show to see how your new display stuff will look! Glad you know what to work on now!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful booth -- and I love the pink jewelry tree. It would be a fun accent piece, even without jewelry.
ReplyDeleteThe display looks great. I love your jewelry tree! Best of luck with the upcoming shows.
