Proposal Box

I love working with brides and grooms to create special items for their weddings. It makes me smile that I get to be a small part of their big day.
I was recently asked to create something special for a proposal! I was honored to be asked to create such a special piece for this fiance-to-be!

He had me create a custom box with lots of hearts and love quotes. Then I made some 4" x 6" wooden cards to fit inside the box. Each card represented a special part of their relationship.

I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. And the buyer was thrilled as well! His new bride-to-be loved every part of it. She's one lucky girl to get such a unique and special proposal :)

The Power of One Purchase

I recently had a fun request for some custom buttons. The buyer told me that they were doing a "sheep breed study" and wanted 12 buttons all with a different sheep breed and a little picture of a sheep engraved on the buttons. While I wasn't entire sure what the buttons were for, I was happy to make such cute little buttons :)

About a week after I shipped the buttons, I woke up to several emails from other customers wanting the same buttons! The buyer had posted a picture of her buttons on her Raverly group's page. The group is doing a year-long study on different fibers from the different sheep breeds! (okay, now it made sense.)

That one purchase turned into 6 more purchases! It's amazing the power one buyer can have. And while I'm the first to say that you don't need to participate in every social media out there. This does prove the power of social media as well.

What's even more fun, one buyer requested an extra button for a custom bag she was working on. She said it was for a spin along and the colors of the bag represented the different layers of the forest. She had named her bag Squatch (short for sasquatch) and wanted a custom button to finish it off. How fun is this and her bag looks great with it!

Custom Wooden Buttons

As most of my readers know, I love custom work. The majority of the listings in my shop are for custom orders and I'm adding new pieces to my shop all the time thanks to custom requests. I've been making wooden buttons for a while now and finally got a listing up for custom buttons!

I actually made these buttons last year and finally got them listed thanks to Rose of Random Creative. I sent some of these buttons to Rose last year for her birthday and she made the coolest bracelet using one of my buttons for the closure. I love how the neutral wood buttons really help the colorful beads stand out!

Did you hear me say I made these last year? Yes, it took me a whole year to get these listed! While I may appear to have it all together...this happens more often than I'd like to admit! But hey, they're listed now and I'm happy that Rose shared her bracelet recently and allowed me to use her photos for my  listing...Thanks Rose!

Recipe for a Happy Marriage

As most of you know by now, I love custom work! It seems each new request turns into another great item I can add to my shop. And I've really been working this year to grow my Wedding Section. My most recent request was just perfect!

I was asked by a friend to make a personalized recipe box with a "recipe for a happy marriage" engraved on the top for her sister's bridal shower.

These recipe boxes would make great bridal shower gifts, wedding gifts or even guest book alternatives.

My wheels are spinning with other designs I'd love to engrave on the boxes. My carved tree design might just have to be next. And they would be great with monograms or even Mom's Recipes.
What other designs do you think would look great on these?

In Memory

I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend! I got to spend lots of time with my family, which to me is what any holiday is about...FAMILY :)

I got a neat request the other day to replace a part on a wind chime. The buyer had ordered the wind chime with a custom hanger, but didn't like at all how it turned out. She sent me a photo of  the original and told me what changes she wanted made and I created her a new hanger. She loved it :)

I got a very nice message from my buyer telling me how perfect the new hanger was and that it saved the wind chime that she would be giving as a gift.I then got a little teary-eyed when she told me that the wind chime would be given to her friend in memory of her 2 day old baby that had just passed away last month! I was so honored that I got to help make this gift so special!

Any time I think I'm just creating scrapbooks and engravings, I get a message like this that reminds me that I'm helping to preserve memories! And it makes me stop and remember my own family and give them an extra hug when I see them!

Disney Autograph Books

I must admit...I'm just a little jealous of these new books! They get to go to Disney World (and I don't)!
I got to make some fun new Autograph Books for a recent custom order...and in pink even :)
The customer really liked my Autograph Name Albums, but wanted to take the books with her to Disney and we both decided that a different style would work better to make the journey. These are what we came up with.
The books are 8"x8". The covers are chipboard and the pages inside are left blank for the characters to sign and the customer to add photos to when she returns home. What a fun idea! And they're in a Disney Princess theme for her girls :)
I'm considering adding something like these to my shop. But I was thinking maybe in a smaller size so they could easily be put in a purse or back pack.
I'd love to hear your thoughts...What size would be best?
