Journal Swap

Back in March, the EtsyBloggers Team participated in a journal swap. (You can look back for several posts on the journal I made for my swap mate.)
Katrinna from Bijoux Rouge (which stands for Red Jewel) was my other swap mate and I received my journal from her this past week. Here's the cover she designed:
I used to have a bulletin board in my room growing up similar to this :)
Some things I found interesting or liked about Katrinna's journal:
  • She listed "Finish Wedding Scrapbook" as a goal for 2010
  • She is going to make me a GIF Blinkie for my blog!!!
  • Like me, she grew up in very small town. She stated that the town didn't have many businesses, but had 3 bars. She said it was a drinking town with a fishing problem...LOL! I loved this line :)
  • And I loved the page she made using her business card as the design:

Thank you Katrinna for sending my journal...I love it :)

Journal Swap Fun

This journal was by far one of the funnest projects I've worked on in quite some time :) It was fun to get out a bunch of supplies and see what looked best where. To pair my thoughts with scrapbook supplies. To know that I was sending this on to someone who will love it :)
I took a very random approach to this journal. We were given 31 topics or projects to write about throughout the month. We were to start with #1, but from there we could write about any one we wanted. And rather than write each topic on each page, I decided to label each page with the corresponding topic number.
I used every color in the rainbow to make this journal fun and pretty :) Lots of pages had photos with them (I am a scrapbooker after all!). And each of them is a story about my life :)
As you can see above, I finally decided on a cover. It may seem backwards, but this was actually the last step in my journal. I created all of the pages, then found the paper I wanted for the cover and created it last.
Here are a few more pages I hadn't shown yet:
This journal is on its way to Texas to live with Erika...I hope she likes it :)

What a Great Weekend!!!

I had such an amazing and productive weekend! I love three day weekends! Why can't they all be that way?
I don't know if was the sun shining or a burst of creative energy, but I got so much done!
Thursday:
*Cleaned house/did laundry
*Finished one custom album
*Finished 4 bare custom albums
*Started two more custom albums
Friday:
*Finished the two custom albums from Thursday *Made 40 more invitations for my cousin's wedding
Saturday:
*Finished my EtsyBloggers Journal Swap journal
(okay, technically it's late...but it's done!)
*Started 4 recipe books
Sunday:
*Finished the recipe books
*Packed up 4 orders to send out Monday
*Made a new item to put in my shop
(You'll have to wait til tomorrow to see it!)
I wish every weekend could be this productive! Now I just have to figure out how to make my week that productive too :)
What did you get done this weekend? Were you productive as well? I'd love to hear about your weekend!

Journal Update

I must admit...I've fallen a little bit behind on my journal! (Don't worry Erika...it will be done!) I never thought March would be so busy! But with my craft show on Saturday (and the preparation leading up to it), wedding invitations for two weddings, and custom orders in between...I've been super busy!!!
Okay...enough excuses already! I have gotten a few more pages done though :) And I have thoroughly enjoyed working on it :) It has been so long since I've sat down and just created for fun! This journal has let me play again and use supplies I haven't used in a while. And the topics have been lots of fun to write about :)
Here are the pages I've done most recently:
I've been trying to use more colors than just pink, purple, and teal! I've added in some green, orange and yellow too :) I can't wait to sit down this week and finish my album! Now I just need to figure out exactly how I want the cover to look...

EtsyBloggers Journal Swap-#23

I didn't get an update done about my journal this week. Things have been crazy and I haven't had time to photograph my latest entries. So I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to complete #23 and blog about a favorite item from my swap mate's shop :)
Let me tell you...it's always hard to choose favorites! And Erika makes so many cute things! I chose to blog about one of Erika's dolls.
Chloe is not only my favorite because of her fun patterns and great colors. She's also my favorite because of her story and what she represents :) You can read Chloe's story here. And Erika donates part of her proceeds to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Chloe is beautiful both inside and out...this is why she is my favorite :)

Journal Update

I have been having so much fun creating my journal for the EtsyBloggers Journal Swap!!! Here lately I've been working so much on inventory for up-coming shows and custom orders that I haven't actually made any scrapbook layouts in quite some time. And since I am making my journal scrapbook-style...this is an awesome creative outlet!!!
Here are my latest pages:
I'm not going in any particular order. Just whatever strikes my fancy that day :) I'm using all of my favorite colors and trying to embellish each page or add a photo to make it fun! I'll keep you updated on my progress!

Let the Swappin' Begin

The EtsyBloggers Journal Swap that is! Today is the start of a month long journal swap that I am participating in with other EtsyBloggers.
We are given a list of topics to write about during the month and then we mail our finished journal to a fellow teammate and we get one in return from a different teammate. It is going to be so much fun :)
I haven't made the cover of my journal yet because I want to make my journal kind of like a scrapbook. I have the general idea of what I want and the size I want it, but I want to be able to make each page separately and put them all together at the end.
I made my first page today. We were to introduce ourselves and tell a little bit about us. We were also to add a photo of ourselves and our shop banner. Here is what I came up with:
I loved the teal paper, but of course my first page had to have pink on it too :)
From here on out, we have 30 more topics to choose from and we can write about them in any order we want...just so we cover them all. I will keep you updated (maybe weekly) on how the journal is coming along.
So let the swappin' begin!!!
