Boys and Their Toys
I'm really starting to believe the saying "The Only Difference Between Men and Boys is the Price of Their Toys" :)
Jesse is one of those men who loves his toys. Anything with a motor and he's in love...lol! We recently acquired a new vehicle/toy and after telling some friends about it, I promised pictures. It's not one of those vehicles you can explain very well with words, so here it is :)
The original vehicle is a late '20s early '30s Ford Roadster. And the body is made from a fiberglass mold. Of course the most exciting part (for Jesse) is the giant motor it has in it! It has a Chevy 454 for the motor, which is the same motor our giant truck has in it!
It's only about three-quarters done and still needs some minor details like lights and fenders before it can be registered. For now, it's just a fun toy to putt to the neighbors in (which is more my speed!) Once it's road ready, I'm not sure I'll be going for a ride!

Only the Beginning
I finally had my training on my new Epilog Laser Cutter yesterday!!! What an exciting day!!! I had 101 questions and played with the software and machine for about 3.5 hours while Crystal was here! And of course I played more after she left :)
Here are some of the projects we did yesterday:

And I've got 100s more ideas I want to play with today!!! Look for metal plaques, engraved scrapbook and photo album covers, leather journals and so, so much more!!! I'm willing to try anything requested :) I have a friend who wants me to engrave on his valve covers for his motor...LOL!

IT'S HEEEEEEEERE!!!
My laser cutter is officially HERE! I couldn't wait any longer to take it out of the box and get it on my new table! Though I can't use it until my training and ventilation system arrive next Friday, for now I'm happy to just look at it :)

ANOTHER New Toy
By now I'm sure you've figured out how much I love scrapbooking toys :) There are just so many cool things you can do with new toys and so many new projects you can come up with!
I'm officially taking my toy collection to the next level! After the first of the year I'm buying a LASER CUTTER!!!!! The machine is called an Epilog and they came to demo it on Tuesday! Of course I was too busy playing and asking a billion questions to take any pics! But here is a photo from their site. It is sort of like an oversized printer or large microwave (in terms of size).

I originally started looking for a machine that would cut out my Custom Name Albums for me. My xacto knife gets the job done, but it sure is a lot of work...and time-consuming! Not only will this laser cutter cut out my albums...it will do SO much more!!! It will cut thin woods, acrylic, fabrics and rubber to name a few. And it will engrave on tile, marble, leather, wood, glass, etc. etc. The list just goes on and on!!!!!! And there is a rotary attachment for etching on round items like glasses and bottles!
This machine will make it possible for me to grow my inventory so I can do more shows. As well as shorten my turn-around time for custom orders. It will also allow me to expand my business in so many ways! My mind is working over time with all the ideas I want to use this machine for!
Don't tell Jesse, but I think I'm in love :)

A Girl Can Never Have Too Many Tools
By now, I'm sure you know how much I love new scrapbooking toys/tools! I just can't resist something that is fun to play with AND will make the process easier!!!
A while back I bought a special cutter that would cut chipboard. I was so excited that they had finally come out with such a tool and had to be the first to own one! Well, unfortunately it wasn't as spectacular as I had hoped! The first one I received was damaged and the second one still wasn't up to par! I was very disappointed and went back to cutting everything by hand.
I have been looking into getting a computerized mat cutter to cut out my Name Albums, but want to see and use one in person and just haven't been able to bring myself to the large investment (almost $10,000!!!) yet. But in the process of looking outside of the scrapbooking world for new tools, I found my new toy :) It is actually made to cut photo mats. Matboard is similar in thickness to chipboard and the cutters can handle the large size I like to work with as well. The chipboard is a little harder on the blades, but it definitely gets the job done! Meet my new buddy...

The Logan 301-S. It is one of the smallest mat cutters Logan makes and it is my new best friend :) I cut an entire stack of chipboard (25 pieces) down to 4"x12" in a matter of 30-45 minutes. And this was the very first time I used it, so I was getting the size right and playing with different blade settings, etc. It does leave a little bit of a raggedy edge, but it easily comes off with a nail file!
Aren't new toys fun :)

It's Here!!!
The new cutter I've been wanting finally became available through my wholesaler!!! And I ordered it the minute I could! It arrived this week and I've been dying to play with it!

I told myself I have to finish the two albums I'm working on before I can take it out of the box and play with it. So I better get to work...
I'll definitely let you know how it works and how much I love it when I finally get to play with it :)

I'm on the Nice List
Do you have to be good ALL year to be on the nice list? Just most of the time right? Well...I must have been a good girl this year because I received a new toy in the mail yesterday!!! Okay, so maybe I had to buy it myself...but a new toy is a new toy :)
If you haven't figured it out by now...I'm a sucker for new scrapbooking toys (tools)! I really have to refrain from buying every single one or my room would be more overflowing than it is!!! I seriously need a bigger room!!!

So what does this new toy do you ask? Well...it laminates and binds scrapbook albums. Binding...didn't I just get a binding machine? Yeah, but this one is a different style of binding :) To me, this machine puts a more professional look on the albums. They look much like the albums you would get from an online photo center like Shutterfly.
So what do I have in store for this new toy? Well...my mind is racing with ideas!!! I want to make catalogs that I can take to craft shows with me. This way I can show off all of my custom work without having to take samples of everything with me. I will also be offering catalogs for sale to others as well. I would also like to make more premade albums where all you have to do is add your photos. And these are a just a couple of ideas I've come up with!
I'll let you know when I get to start playing with my new toy and what I come up with :)

I ♥ New Toys...I mean Tools :)
One of the things I love most about scrapbooking is that the "tools" made for the craft end up being like "toys" to me. I just love to play with all of them. They serve the purpose of tools, but I get the joy of playing with a toy from them :)
Wanna see my newest toy? It's a Bind-It-All from Zutter Innovative Products!!! And it's even pink...isn't it cute!

The bind it all is a machine that punches holes for the purpose of making scrapbooks, journals, notebooks, etc. It has several guides on it to keep everything aligned and even has a special setting for inside pages so they are just a touch smaller to fit inside the covers. They make special metal rings called OWires that you slide through the holes and then the machine clamps them down to create perfect binding every time! And it punches through more than just paper! It will cut heavy chipboard, thin metal, acrylic, and just about any material under 1/8" thick!!!

And I know you wanna see my first creation with my new toy...don't ya :) This is a custom creation for a photographer. Mandi at Rock~n~Royalty Photography wanted something unique to put her proofs in when she handed them out to clients. And this is what I came up with...

I just love how it turned out! And Sharla at Beaded Tail gave me the great idea to make these in several different themes. Not everyone wants a scrapbook-style album, but they still want something unique and special to put their photos in. I think I will make more of these in Family, Friends, Pets, etc. with light embellishments and photo corners ready for your photos! Thanks for the great idea Sharla!!!
What's your favorite crafty tool?
