Lasered Update

I haven't had a lasered update in a while as I've been building up my stock for shows and Etsy. I found designs I wanted to make more of and I've been working on those lately. But over the weekend I took time to play with some new ideas and designs :)
I love how this laser cut cardstock turned out! I might try a simpler design next time as there are quite a few small pieces on this one, but I love it! I thought I would sell them as a two-page set with matching laser cut corners.
I LOVE how this white chipboard turned out! It has a white top layer with kraft colored layers underneath. Makes for a great two-tone image! I'm thinking of turning these into notebook covers or maybe even some framed art sets. I'd love to hear your ideas for these!!!
(Sorry for the poor photos! I realized after taking them that I only had one of my lights on!)
Also with chipboard, I made some coasters. I made them in both white and plain versions. These are like what restaurants typically use. I thought they'd be great to customize for parties and weddings!
And I've been working on tons of new pendants designs along with some rings! This ring is my favorite :)
What should I try next? I'd love to hear your ideas :)

Lasered Weekend Update

I love doing these weekend updates! I get to show off all my week's creations in one spot :) It makes me realize how much I got done and how many new things I tried too! Eventually I need to quit playing around and start actually getting down to business! But for now, I'm just having too much fun!!!
Bamboo Coaster Set
White Ceramic Tile...Painted Pink then etched
Two Picture Frames (which can easily be customized)
Agate Slice
(I think these would be awesome! But I need to find ones that don't have such difference in the layers so they laser better. I think I found a supplier for these!)
Wood Sign on untreated wood
Bare Name Albums
(These are selling like crazy right now! I think I have 18 on order!!!)
Question: What should I play with next week?

Going Green-EtsyBloggers Blog Carnival

This week's EtsyBloggers Blog Carnival themes are brought to us by HoneyfromtheBee and our themes are:
1) St. Patrick's Day will be our next holiday. Write about any St. Patrick's Day traditions you have or memories... crafts.... food...
2) Thinking Green... write about what you're doing to make this a greener planet. This could be about your art or just around the house or at work.
I'm always trying to find ways to "go green" in my scrapbooking by using odds and ends from other projects to make something new. I just can't bare to throw away pretty papers and perfectly good scraps of chipboard! With my new laser cutter, I've found the perfect way to use part of my stash!!!
Chipboard Alphabets
I plan to make these in several different sizes and different fonts. I can even make custom requests from any font someone wants!
And for the larger pieces, Chipboard Words
Maybe this will help put a dent in my very large stash of chipboard :)

Almost Wordless Wednesday-Laser in Action

Not the greatest picture, hard to get a photo when it's moving so fast!
If you look close, you can see where it's lasering...looks like a mini fire :)

Go Do Your Homework!

I feel like a sponge lately! I've been taking in as much info as I possibly can about my new laser and all the materials I can use with it. I've been scouring the Internet for good resources and joined a great forum called Saw Mill Creek with a special Engravers Forum! It is more information than I could take in in a lifetime!
Since buying my laser, I feel like I've gone back to school, only now the homework is fun :) And I have a new kind of science experiment! I've been learning new software, new settings for the laser, buying fun new materials to work with and so much more! And you know what...I have a new excitement for creating!!! All I want to do is learn and play!
Not to sound like your mother, but I encourage you to do the same...Go Do Your Homework! You might just find a new project to try, a new material to work with, or a new tool you can't live without! And I hope it brings you an excitement to create as it did for me :)
Gotta run...my laser is calling :)

Weekend Update-Laser Projects

It's been another fun week with my laser! I got some new supplies in that I've been playing around with. I want to try anything and everything to see how it turns out and see what I want to focus most on. I hope to have lasered items in my shop within the next week or two! Here are this week's new items. Acrylic was very easy to cut and engrave on! I'll be making magnets out of these similar to the glass tiles ones I've been making. (And I think I found a better way to do the backing...photos of that to come later!) Leather was a little tricky. It wanted to curl while engraving and it leaves a smoky film afterwards. I've been doing some research and have a few products I want to try with the leather. Leather also has a very interesting smell after being engraved...the nice smell of burnt hair...LOL! I did a few different glass picture frames that I'll soon be adding to my shop. These turned out very nice! I also have some mirrors I want to try...add that to the list :)
I painted some of the wood discs that I showed last week and made them into rings and pendants. I love the "Diamond Ring" :) Last but not least...a wood frame. These are great for lasering with a flat surface and 1.25" of area to engrave! I'll be offering these in premade options as well as custom ones. Question: Do you think these will go over well in my Scrapbook Shop, or should I consider starting a second shop? Thanks for your comments :)

Only the Beginning

I finally had my training on my new Epilog Laser Cutter yesterday!!! What an exciting day!!! I had 101 questions and played with the software and machine for about 3.5 hours while Crystal was here! And of course I played more after she left :)
Here are some of the projects we did yesterday:
Engraved Wood Plaque
Chipboard Letter for my Custom Name Albums
Chipboard Word
1" Etched Glass Tile
Etched Glass Cube
First we engraved on these Flip Flops and then we cut them!!!
And I've got 100s more ideas I want to play with today!!! Look for metal plaques, engraved scrapbook and photo album covers, leather journals and so, so much more!!! I'm willing to try anything requested :) I have a friend who wants me to engrave on his valve covers for his motor...LOL!

IT'S HEEEEEEEERE!!!

My laser cutter is officially HERE! I couldn't wait any longer to take it out of the box and get it on my new table! Though I can't use it until my training and ventilation system arrive next Friday, for now I'm happy to just look at it :)

Friday Features-Laser Beams in my Dreams

My laser cutter showed up yesterday!!! Though I can't use it until my training next Friday, I'm just excited to have it and I'm one step closer to making all my ideas reality!
I've had this goofy song by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils called Chicken Train stuck in my head lately!
The second verse goes like this:
Lazer beam...in my dream Lazer beam...in my dream Lazer beam...in my dream I can't get on, I can't get off lazer beam like a sawed off dream

So today's features all have laser beams in them. Some fun features to put a smile on your face :)

Thanks Uncle Dave!

Okay, that title should actually say Thanks AGAIN Uncle Dave :) My uncle is the one who built my totally awesome paper shelves you can see in this post HERE. Most recently I had him build me a table to put my new laser cutter on (coming in less than 10 days!!!). I was having trouble finding a table with all the right dimensions. Most weren't deep enough and many weren't tall enough. Uncle Dave to the rescue! He was able to build me one that was perfect :)
Don't you just love the routered corners :)
And he's so creative! The legs are made out of deck railing! I love the detail! Thanks again Dave :) You really are the best!!!
