Baby Name Album - Elephants

My most recent custom name album was for an adorable baby book. The nursery is decorated in mainly elephants with a few other jungle animals as well. I had so much fun finding cute embellishments for this book!

Adorable elephant embellishments

And other cute little jungle animals

I have these books deactivated in my shop as I catch up on 4 other albums! I will relist them as soon as possible, but they won't be in my shop for long. I will be deactivating them again in early November (or sooner if orders require it). So if you've been thinking about a custom name album for a Christmas gift, please contact me so I can ensure your order :)

Tribal Designs in the Shop

As I mentioned recently, I'm really loving the tribal trend that's popular lately! And I've been looking for ways to add this trend to my shop. I went on a creative streak and added 4 new tribal products to my shop. And even had to make some of these for myself!

Tribal Necklace (choose your chain length)

And as some of you noticed, I wore my new necklace to the wedding last weekend :)
Are you liking the tribal trend?

Camping & A Wedding

Last weekend we attended Jesse's cousin's wedding and got to camp for the weekend as well.
We bought our camper earlier this summer, but hadn't gotten a chance to use it until now. Where did summer go?!?

I made sure to take a picture of our camper (yes, the one in the back of that truck) and a fancy camper in the background. All the other campers in the park were nice like that...probably anywhere from $10-100k! We were quite the talk of the RV park...lol! Yes, we're a little bit redneck :)

But hey, it has a bed, heater, air conditioner, sink, stove and bathroom. What more could we ask for. Jesse even cooked me breakfast the first morning :)

And I got a mani/pedi before the wedding courtesy of Jesse's aunt :) I realized that I hadn't had my finger nails painted since Christmas!

And I had my toes painted to match my shirt. Loving the tribal trend!

The wedding was absolutely gorgeous! The couple got married in front of a rock climbing wall at a rec. park that they both used to work at. The location was so pretty with trees and wildflowers in the background. And the bride was definitely a stunner!

What a great way to say goodbye to summer. Bring on fall!

Marathon Medals

Earlier this summer I was contacted by a local chamber of commerce to engrave some "medals" for a marathon fundraiser they were hosting. The race takes place on the Wabash Trace and they were looking for some wood medals to go along with the nature theme of the race.

Here is a photo of part of the race trail...isn't it beautiful!

Each year the race gets bigger and bigger and I was so happy to be asked to be a part of it this year! I engraved the marathon's logo on the front and drilled holes in each wooden log slice so they could be worn like regular medals. Yikes...this required power tools!

And here are some of the runners wearing their medals :)
I've already gotten so many awesome complements from some of the volunteers and runners from the day. It's been fun seeing everyone's photos on Facebook of them with their medals!

This was a great event to be a part of and I was honored that they asked me to make their medals!

Friday Features - Fall Outdoor Wedding

This weekend we will be attending our forth and final wedding of the year. It's going to be such a beautiful event as it is outdoors and lakeside! The colors and scenery will be so pretty! I've put together a few of my favorite Etsy finds that would go well with this event. Enjoy :)

Super Hero Cuff Links & Wonder Woman Necklace

As I mentioned last month, I'm working on adding more super hero cuff links to my shop. They remain one of the most popular cuff links and I get custom requests for different heroes quite often. Last time I posted, I realized that I had forgotten to photograph a couple of sets and in the meantime, I've gotten a couple more new items ready as well :)

(I thought it would be cute for the groom to wear Batman and the best man to wear Robin)

And last time I blogged about these, Sarah of Magnolia Surprise mentioned that I should add some Wonder Woman items as there is a new movie coming out. I thought this necklace was the perfect addition. What better piece of jewelry to wear on those days when you need a little motivation to be extra wonderful and feel a little powerful :)
I thought I had a pair of earrings made too, but realized I'd put those in my personal stash :) I'll see how the necklace does and might have to make some more for the shop.

What have you been adding to your shop lately?

Friday Features - Tribal

Gosh, it's been a while since I've done a Friday Features post. I guess summer was busier than I thought!
But I love today's theme! I've always been a fan of feathers and arrows and I'm loving all the tribal prints and designs that are so popular right now. (I need to find a way to work them into my own work!)
I loved window shopping so much this time, that I actually bought one of these items! I love that tshirt so much I had to make it mine in a color called Tri Lime. I can't wait to receive it!

Wedding Invitation Recreation

Once in a while I get a request to recreate a couple's wedding invitation onto wood. Not everyone wants a wooden invitation to send out, but they do make a very nice keepsake for after the event.

I was recently asked to make one such invitation and loved how it turned out! I love the original design and loved how close I was able to get the recreation.

I start by matching the fonts either exactly or as closely as I can. Then I look for images that match the invitation. Or try to use the exact image from the original invitation from a scan or photograph. In this case, I had the perfect seahorse image already on file. All it needed was a few alterations and the invitation came together beautifully.

This request came directly from the bride and groom, but I've also made these as wedding gifts as well. Now that's something you can guarantee the couple won't get 2 of :)

Wish Upon A Wedding

Last year I attended a bridal fair and met many other vendors/business professionals in the wedding industry. One of those wedding professionals was Tina Schneckloth of Kimera Weddings & Events. She is a certified wedding and event planner in the Omaha area.

A few months back, Tina contacted me to help create a dream wedding for a local couple through Wish Upon A Wedding. Wish Upon A Wedding is a wish granting organization providing weddings and vow renewals for couples facing terminal illness and serious life-changing circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation.

I was honored to be asked to participate and offered either a set of champagne flutes or a custom guest book. The couple chose a guest book with their photo on the front.

I am very grateful that I am able to give back through my business and help others in need. This was a perfect opportunity to do just that!

Wish Upon A Wedding has chapters all over the US. If you're interested in becoming a wish granter like I did, check out the information here and make a couple's dream wedding become a reality :)

Family Time

My poor little blog has been quite neglected for the last week or so. But not without good reason...my parents were in town! So I was spending all my free time with them and many other family members.

One of the first things I did was go fishing with my dad! This is something we hadn't gotten to do in far too long and I wanted to make it a priority. It was so great just sitting out on a farm pond soaking up the sun and spending time with my dad. We even caught a few fish :)

After that, I was pretty much terrible about taking any photos of the things we did! But my mom and I made a couple trips to the city to do some shopping and having lunch at places we don't normally get to eat at. I got to see both sets of grandparents and both sides of my extended families as well.

My town hosts a huge Labor Day celebration each year. This year we even had a carnival again. We had them when I was a kid, but it had been several years since we'd had one. It was great seeing the kids play and have fun :) (again, sorry, no photos!) And Monday there was a big parade and a demolition derby, both tradition.

While there may not be a lot of photos from their visit, there were lots of memories made. And that's what counts, right :)
