Thanksgiving Celebrations

This week's EtsyBloggers Blog Carnival is hosted by MysticWynd. And our two selections are: 1) Most countries around the world have a day set aside to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. Here in the US, it's Thanksgiving. What do you celebrate wherever you live and how do you celebrate? 2) The holiday season will soon be here - what's your favorite holiday movie or special? Why? Every Thanksgiving my family gathers at my grandparents house for a wonderful feast and family time :) I love seeing the whole family together to give thanks! I get to see my younger cousins and some of the family that live further away. I am fortunate to have most of my family near by :) The only thing that could make it better is if my parents could be there! But I'll get to see them for a wonderful visit at Christmas!!! I'm counting down the days!!! We also get together with Jesse's family. We usually have to go separate ways on Thanksgiving Day as everything seems to be scheduled at the same time! But we are able to get together with his other side of the family over the weekend. Once again there is a wonderful feast and family time. Someone usually brings a fun game to play and we hang out all night :) To me the holidays are all about Family! And family is the thing I am most thankful for!!!

Friday Features-Fall is in the Air

Here in Iowa...fall is very much upon us. Our weather has cooled down quite a bit, but there is always a warm day thrown in here and there. This week it was 35 degrees one morning and 65 degrees the next...yup...Fall in Iowa!

One Happy Girl :)

Yup...that's me this weekend...One Happy Girl :) Why, you ask?

First, I got my wholesale order delivered and payment received :) Huge weight lifted!

Then Friday morning I turned on the radio and listened for their giveaway to start...and WON TICKETS!!! I get to go see Lynyrd Skynyrd!!! I also got tickets to Barenaked Ladies, but will probably be giving them away to a cousin since we have a birthday party that evening. What a great way to start off the day!

I finished 6 more premade albums that I'll be taking with me to a party on Sunday. And got started on more custom albums I need to get made.

I also got my first treasury on Etsy! I was pretty excited about this too! And had to put my fave team in it: The EtsyBloggers :)

And to top it all off...I sold 4 more Custom Albums!!!

I wonder what today will bring :)

Birthday Memories

This month for the EtsyBloggers Blog Carnival one of the options to blog about is a favorite birthday memory, wish, or gift. And if you've been reading my blog...you know I love my birthday :) So instead of choosing one special memory or gift, I thought I'd show you the last 8 birthdays and why they were special. (Okay...really only 7 because apparently my 20th birthday wasn't special! How could that be!)

This is from my 19th birthday. It was the first year Jesse and I lived together during my birthday. He came home from work with this ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. And the best part...he doesn't eat sweets...so I got the whole cake to myself :) Pretty thoughtful if you ask me :)

Like I said above...we'll just skip over my 20th since I don't have any pics and can't quite remember it!

But of course my 21st was a big one :) This is the layout I made to celebrate it. We went to eat at Hooters and they made me stand on a chair with that hideous red dress while they sang to me! Then we went to a comedy club where a hypnotist was performing...he's the big guy in the blue shirt I'm standing with. Yup...I got my picture taken with him afterwards :)

For my 22nd I made this layout to remember 22 things about me at 22. I really wish I would have made one of these every year so I could see how my life had changed within the last year.

My 23rd was pretty special! Not only was this the only year my parents have been home for my birthday since they moved, but I got really good gifts! As you can see in the He Loves Me layout...I got my Harley boy and a fridge!!! And I had to make a special layout to show that I got to spend the day with my entire family :) A very special birthday :)

My 24th was the first year we had a big celebration in our shed. My cousin's girlfriend's birthday is the day before mine, so we decided we deserved a party :) This is the two of us at the festivities!

For my 25th we went to Vegas! My first trip and it was awesome :) Just the two of us having a blast!

And if you're a regular reader...you know I had even more fun at my 26th!!! My best friend and I have birthdays 10 days apart...so a party was definitely needed :) And not only that, but on the actual day of my birthday, Jesse took me out for supper...where his whole family was there to surprise me :) One of the sweetest things he's done for me...I almost cried!!!

I know...a long post...but can you see why it was hard for me to choose a favorite! What do you think next year will bring...

I would first like to congratulate CREATEaTHOUGHT on being this month's Featured EtsyBlogger! Yay! I would also like to show you my favorite things from her shop :) I absolutely love the journals she makes! There are so many different styles and many of them are upcycled too! Artist vs. Crafter

The age old question when it comes to the art world: Are you an artist or a crafter? And do you feel there is a difference?

I am one of those people who feels that everyone is an artist :) I like to think of every layout, album, greeting card, etc. I make to be a small work of art. I put my heart and soul into my work and consider it all to be art.

There are those people out there that feel you can only call yourself an artist after you've gone to college and received an art degree...I say phooey! You learn the most about art from creating it :)

So whether you call yourself a crafter or an artist...I guess my biggest piece of advise is to just have fun in whatever you do :) That's what makes it special!!!
