It's been another fun week with my laser! I got some new supplies in that I've been playing around with. I want to try anything and everything to see how it turns out and see what I want to focus most on. I hope to have lasered items in my shop within the next week or two! Here are this week's new items.
Acrylic was very easy to cut and engrave on! I'll be making magnets out of these similar to the glass tiles ones I've been making. (And I think I found a better way to do the backing...photos of that to come later!)
Leather was a little tricky. It wanted to curl while engraving and it leaves a smoky film afterwards. I've been doing some research and have a few products I want to try with the leather. Leather also has a very interesting smell after being engraved...the nice smell of burnt hair...LOL!
I did a few different glass picture frames that I'll soon be adding to my shop. These turned out very nice! I also have some mirrors I want to try...add that to the list :)
I painted some of the wood discs that I showed last week and made them into rings and pendants. I love the "Diamond Ring" :)
Last but not least...a wood frame. These are great for lasering with a flat surface and 1.25" of area to engrave! I'll be offering these in premade options as well as custom ones.
Question: Do you think these will go over well in my Scrapbook Shop, or should I consider starting a second shop? Thanks for your comments :)
I continue to be awed by the items you can etch with your new machine. I think that if you tie in the items you make with your scrapbooking theme, certain items will work very well. I can see making lasered tags as ephemera, and the lasered frames are a natural. Once you figure out what you want to do with the leather, I can leather journals down the road. This is going to be an exciting year for you, that much is certain!
ReplyDeleteI really like your picture frames - both the glass effect and the wood! So many different things you're coming up with! WOW! Thanks for the hints on the custom ordering {:-D
ReplyDeleteI really like the pink engraved wood discs! I am so excited about everything you are making! I've never quite understood the having more than one shop for things so don't see why they would fit in your current shop.
ReplyDeleteI look at my different shops as different departments of Pruitt Creations! I believe that I attract different customers with the different emphasis'. And I can direct my new customers to the other shops as I include links to similar items in the description portion. It is a lot of work to have more than one shop, though. A lot to consider!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, Edi! This is awesome, and I too do not see why you would open a 2nd shop for your new creations. I mean, you have a huge following already, why start from scratch. And I agree w/BeadedTail that this fits right into your current shop.
ReplyDeleteCan you send out a message to your buyers to let them know about your newest additions?
I love what you do, especially because you shine so brightly when talking abou it!
Really like those glass etched ones in the frames.
Oh who would want to sleep when so much fun is to be had! So glad you got this machine, Edi!
ReplyDeleteTo answer your shop question, I agree with Linda. Try to stick to the one if you can. Two shops is a bit of a pain.
ReplyDeleteI think the frames would be great with your current shop. It might be a stretch for the jewelry, though, because it is not really personalized like the others. Unless you can do that, too?:)
ReplyDeleteEdi those are all beautiful! WOW what lovely work -- I love the rings and the pendant! Especially the copper color on the flower pendant matching the wood...extra pretty!!
ReplyDeletehehe I just saw the diamond ring -- CUTE!!
