Friday Features - Gray Skies and Yellow Sunshine
Well, it's been another wet week here in SW Iowa. We've had everything from rainstorms with thunder and lightening (complete with a power outage) to blowing snow! Here and I thought Spring had arrived! All this yucky weather has me yearning for sunshine. As I was searching Etsy for some bright beautiful finds, I stumbled across some great gray and yellow finds. I thought they were just perfect for the gray skies we're having and the yellow sunshine I'm yearning for. (Plus, I just made a really cute album in these colors this week!)

Recipe for a Happy Marriage
As most of you know by now, I love custom work! It seems each new request turns into another great item I can add to my shop. And I've really been working this year to grow my Wedding Section. My most recent request was just perfect!
I was asked by a friend to make a personalized recipe box with a "recipe for a happy marriage" engraved on the top for her sister's bridal shower.
These recipe boxes would make great bridal shower gifts, wedding gifts or even guest book alternatives.
My wheels are spinning with other designs I'd love to engrave on the boxes. My carved tree design might just have to be next. And they would be great with monograms or even Mom's Recipes.

Birthday Present Wrap Up
Okay, I promise this is the last post I'll do about my birthday. Hey, it was my 30th! I can dag it out, right :)
But I wanted to show off a few other awesome gifts I received.
I went to lunch with my grandparents last week (as my grandma's birthday is 2 days after mine) and she surprised me with these pretty little flowers. She told me she had never seen miniature daffodils and wanted to share them with me :)
Jesse's mom got me this pretty multimedia piece and I think it suits me pretty well :) I love the colors, the design and of course the saying! I already have it hanging in my "studio".
I also received these photographs from fellow Etsy seller and friend, Rose from Random Creative. Rose has taken her photography to a whole new level over the last year and I'm so happy she shared some of her work with me! She knows how much I love pink, so she sent me 3 different pink flower prints :)
I hung these right next to my new art piece.
I'm so happy to get to start enjoying these new pretties around my home :)

Bonzer Beads Birthday Surprise
A couple weeks ago I posted a birthday wish list of great items I'd love to have from Etsy. I was both surprised and elated when one of the featured sellers offered to send me one of the items from my wish list!
Duane of Bonzer Beads sent me this beautiful Hammered Aluminum Ring in my size. And it arrived so quickly too! I received it last Monday and I've been wearing it all week!
I love that it fits both my index finger as well as my thumb. I've never worn a thumb ring before, but really like this one on my thumb. It's so comfortable and light weight.

Friday Features - April Showers
I was very happy to have such great weather last weekend for my birthday! Unfortunately it is much cooler this week and we've gotten lots of rain. But I shouldn't complain...we really need the rain. I always try to look on the bright side, so I went searching for fun and cute rainy finds on Etsy. It changed my mind about the weather pretty quick :)

Spring Craft Fair 2013
I had my first show of 2013 last weekend. And I'm happy to report that it went really well! This is a show that I've done 4 or 5 times now and have great success there.
Last week I showed you how I turned a shadow box into an earring holder and display. Here it is all set up at the show. I added price tags to different sections of the display and they worked really well. Surprisingly, I don't think I had one question about pricing on things in this area! I think I'll display the bottle stoppers differently next time as they didn't get much attention, but other than that, the display worked great!
I tried this necklace display last year, but didn't like how it turned out. One of my readers mentioned that the open screen needed a back, so I added some aqua cardstock and it really helped the necklace stand out. I love how this display looks now!
I also changed how I displayed my glassware at this show. Normally I have a smaller amount of glass and I place it on the table. For this show, I chose not to put out all of my scrapbooks and used my wooden display stand for glassware. I'm happy to report that beer mugs and wine glasses were my top sellers at this show. Note to self: Bring more glasses in the fall!
I only have one more show planned for this spring. It will be my first bridal fair. So I'll be rethinking my whole display and set up. I'll only be taking along wedding themed items and everything needs to fit on one 8' table. I have a lot of work ahead of me!

The BIG 3-0
On Sunday, I celebrated my 30th birthday! I can't believe I'm really the BIG 3-0! But the day couldn't have been more perfect.
Jesse and I relaxed at home in the morning, then went air boating in the afternoon. It was our maiden voyage for 2013, so that made it even more special :) And the weather actually cooperated and we had sunshine and warm temperatures.
We saw a bald eagle circling it's nest as well as cars buried in the side of the banks.
That night we went to Jesse's aunt and uncle's to grill out. Both Jesse's mom and aunt made me sweet treats! I got pink cupcakes and brownies with 30 Edi written in M&Ms...and homemade frosting!!!
A big celebration with lots of friends and family would have been fun, but the older I get, the more I enjoy smaller, more relaxed get togethers. My 30th birthday was wonderful and I couldn't have asked for anything more!

Friday Features - Birthday Wish List
I loved Roses's Birthday Wish List last month and decided to do one for myself this month. My 30th birthday is on Sunday...THE BIG 3-0!!! So today's features are all items I've had my eyes on for quite some time and would love to receive as a gift :)
I could get lost for hours in the jewelry section of Etsy, so this is pretty heavy with awesome jewelry finds!

I actually don't have any plans for my birthday this year. A big party seemed fitting, but I have a big craft show on Saturday and the thought of partying after a big show just makes me tired...lol...I guess I am getting old :) I'm hoping to get the air boat out for our Maiden Voyage, but we'll see if the weather cooperates. Otherwise, I'm pretty content with ordering in and catching a movie :)
