This past weekend, Jesse and I went to visit my parents in Southern Missouri near Branson. It's so nice to get away and we had a wonderful time! The drive to Missouri is also much better than the drive to Michigan (where they used to live). Today I'm going to share a few scenery photos from the trip and Thursday I'll share some fun photos of what we did on our trip :)
Just past the Iowa border and into Missouri, we saw several wind turbines. At a distance, these look like normal windmills, but as you get closer you start to see just how huge they are! They stand 396' tall and each blade is 139' long...that's huge!
The further we got into Missouri, the curvier and hillier the roads got. Iowa is pretty darn flat, so it's a nice change in scenery. The land is also rockier. I love the rock formations along side the roads.
But the best scenery of all is out my parents' back door. They have a gorgeous view of the lake. It's so calming and relaxing to just sit and enjoy the view :)
Have you been doing any traveling this summer?
Beautiful shots! Southern Missouri is really gorgeous. I posted about travel today too! We're taking a road trip west in a week or two. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been awhile since I've been in MO but I do remember how lovely the landscape is! The view of the lake is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWow that view is amazing! I would probably visit mom and dad all the time just so I could sit right there. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenery!! Your parents have a gorgeous view, how wonderful they get to see that every day!! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning view from your parents' house! We're leaving on Friday for a road trip to Arkansas. I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteThat view is just beautiful! We have a lot of those giant wind turbines in our area :)
ReplyDeleteLast month my parents traveled through different states and one of them was Missouri (Branson). They loved seeing the geography change from Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Tennessee and more.
ReplyDeleteThe view on the lake is amazing!

ReplyDeleteWow, your parents have an amazing view! I'm glad that you had such a good trip.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great road trip! I love seeing windmills. We need to focus on those alternative energies! Your parents have such an amazing view. That must be wonderful to wak up to each day.
ReplyDeleteLove that beautiful lake! No travels yet, but I'm heading to NH, Aug. 22-27, and I am REALLY looking forward to that.
ReplyDeleteI love driving through the Midwest because you get to see so many different landscapes. Yeah, a lot of it is flat, but there are little pockets of hills and pretty trees, especially if you're following a river.
ReplyDeleteWe're going to California in a couple of weeks to see family, but our big trip for this year is going to be Paris in November. Aaaaah!
This is near me! It's quite beautiful here.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize how pretty Missouri is! Also, I didn't realize that there were any hills there.I thought it was pretty flat like the rest of the midwest.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the memories. Sometimes, I miss living in Missouri, although I really love the Pacific Northwest and of course, since all my family is in the PNW, it's home now. Branson/Northern Arkansas is truly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love Eureka Springs! Been a few years since I've been there, tho!
