Apparently Mother Nature can't figure out how to spread her love very evenly this year! While some states are in a drought, those of us here in the Midwest, and really lots of other areas, are getting flooded! And the rain just keeps coming!
I took some photos last week after a huge downpour! The surrounding towns reported between 5"-7" of rain within 12 hours!
This is our neighbor's field. Since we won't be boating on the river anytime soon, maybe we can borrow their field :)
And here are some other photos take by locals in town. This is the street my grandparents live on.
And this leads to Main Street.
Darn crazy weather anyway! How's the weather in your neck of the woods?
That's a lot of rain and flooding :( Our area gets more than our fair share too! Here's hoping the sun comes out for both of us!
ReplyDeleteIt's like that here in the Chicago area too. We had crazy flooding last night, and Essley's swimming lessons were canceled yesterday. It's pretty scary to see the damage. Hopefully the sun will stay out now!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of water! We have been dry and sunny here so could use some of that rain!
ReplyDeleteYou are sure right about the weather being different in other parts of the country. Here in the PNW we are down in the rainfall count! We usually get plenty of rain! Hope is stops in your area soon!
ReplyDeleteCrazy weather! We're doing ok in the rainfall department but it's been mostly in the 90's since the end of May...way to hot for this time of year. I hope the rain stops soon and everyone in your area stays safe!
ReplyDeleteI think borrowing the neighbor's field for boating sounds like a plan! Hope you get sunny weather soon.
ReplyDeleteVery soggy here, too. Hope your grandparents stayed dry!
ReplyDeleteWe had water in the basement. Ugh!
Wow - that looks scary! Take care of you :)
ReplyDeleteSarah
I hope you get some sun soon! Hopefully everyone stays safe. Mother nature is not always easy to deal with!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of water, I really should stop whining about the weather we are having over here!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of Rain! Hope you see some sun soon! Here in Singapore it poured a bit, but it was good as weather is a bit pleasant as compared to the hot days before.
ReplyDeleteThere are some specific streets in the metro Des Moines area that flooded, too, and when we got back from our cabin retreat, we discovered some water in the basement because the sump pump turned off when there was a power outage. Any way you look at it, flooding is the pits.
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad to see.... and I know it is more depressing to experience! I only once had a flooding in my old home ( in Florida) and two days without electricity with heat and humidity... it was bad! On the third day I took my boys to a local hotel... not pleasant memories:(
