Friday Features - Earth Day

Every day is a good day to celebrate Earth Day :)
This year we will officially celebrate on Sunday the 22nd. It's always nice to have a reminder to take a look around and see how we can make our lives more green and environmentally friendly.
Around here, we recycle our glass, plastic and tin cans. And I reuse everything I can! Good for the environment...bad for our ever-growing clutter...LOL :)

Etsy makes it easy (and fun!) to be more eco-friendly. Just take a look at all these green finds I came across!

Friday Features - Happy Earth Day

For today's features, I actually have an entire treasury for you! I created this treasury with all recycled/upcycled items from the EtsyBloggers Team! I love upcycled items as they keep trash out of our landfills and they each have such a unique story to them! No two upcycled items will ever be alike!

Happy Earth Day!

Happy 40th Earth Day!!!

Earth Day has been a public celebration for 40 years now! I think it's awesome that people have been environmentally friendly for so long and continue to be more and more so as the years go by! I realize that everyday should be Earth Day, but it's nice to have the reminder once in a while to make the extra effort and take the extra step to be more eco-friendly.
I try to be environmentally conscience in all aspects of my life. At home we recycle plastic, metal cans and glass. And we burn our trash rather than take it to the landfill. We also recycle our cans and bottles at the redemption center.
Along with recycling, I'm big into reusing as well. I write notes on the backs of junk mail envelopes. I reuse tubs from butter or cottage cheese to take food to work in. And I reuse plastic pop bottles for crystal lite drinks.
In my scrapbooking I find ways to use every scrap of paper I can :) Little bits of paper are great for greeting cards or other smaller projects. And I can always punch shapes out of other small scraps. I also use old magazines as protection when using a glue stick to keep my workspace clean.
I do my part at work too. We have recycling centers set up for paper, cardboard and plastic and I use these everyday in my work. I unbox parts and it is my job to decide what gets recycled and what goes to the trash. I make sure to recycle every bit that I can :)
I hope you will take time today to think of all the small ways you too can help out our environment :) Every little bit helps to make big difference!

Our Part in Earth Day

I am really trying to be eco-conscience more often, but it is nice to have a day like Earth Day to give me a little boost and reminder. Today I was extra careful about what I did relating to the environment. What Jesse and I did to take part in Earth Day:
  • Jesse rode the motorcycle to work...saved on gas!
  • I hung clothes to dry rather than use the dryer...which I do quite often.
  • I jogged outside rather than using my treadmill (I wish I could do this everyday!)
  • I cooked a one-dish meal...less dishes to put in the dishwasher later!
  • We left the lights off from 7am to 7pm.
  • I let my hair air dry and threw on a hat :)
  • I limited my computer time to about an hour...which I should do more often!
  • Our TV was only on for about 20 minutes...which is not unusual for us either.

I'm sure there are more...but they are probably the ones that we do everyday without even thinking about it. I guess that's a good sign...Doing things that are good for the environment and not even having to think about it :)

How did you spend Earth Day? Did you participate in any special events? Did you pay more attention to the environment today than other days? drop me a note and let me know :) I love hearing from my readers!
