Wooden Photo Pendants

I haven't been doing a good job with keeping up on blogging lately, but I have been busy behind the scenes. I've been working on new items, like the ornaments I shared on Monday, and these adorable photo pendants!

I carried photo pendants when I first started engraving and for some reason let them expire out of my shop. Thanks to the request from a fellow blogging friend, Sharla at Beaded Tail, I reintroduced these pendants this week. And I've upgraded to a new design and chain style.

I currently have the baby/person pendants available in my shop and will be adding pet pendants as well. Sharla had her beautiful Sadie engraved and I just love how she turned out!

Christmas is just around the corner and these little pendants make great gifts! Contact me for special shapes or sizes.

Almost Wordless Wednesday - Craft Show Prep v2.0

In last week's WW post, I showed a photo of some magnets, brooches and pendants drying in preparation for my first spring show. Well, after my uncle passed away last week, I did not get to attend the show, but lucky for me, I have another one scheduled for this coming weekend!
~~~~~~
I got several requests to show the fronts of these designs...so here they are :)
Bringing Artwork to Life
I was recently asked by one of my mom's coworkers to see if I could turn her son's artwork into an engraving. He is a very talented artist and my mom had told her about my work. They both thought it would be fun to show the boy that he can make his artwork come to life :)
~~~~~~
My mom emailed me three pieces of his artwork with instructions as to how he would like it engraved.
The first piece he wanted etched on glass.
The next he wanted engraved on wood.
And the last one he wanted made into a pendant with parts engraved and parts cut away.
It was fun seeing his drawings come to life with each piece! I hope this shows him that his artwork is special and keep his creativity flowing :)

Finding Time to Play

I've been having a lot of fun lately learning new techniques and looking for new items and ideas to add to my shop. One thing I've been playing with is jewelry. So far I've just been making samples and keeping them for myself :)
~~~~~~
My challenge piece for the month of February was one of my first jewelry pieces...and it made me want to create more! I bought a few basic jewelry-making items like jump rings, chain and pliers and got my creative juices flowing.
This banner-style necklace was the next item I made. I thought it was fun and can be customized in so many ways! I've even thought of using hearts instead of triangle pendants.
I've seen other pieces similar to this made out of metal and stamped and I thought...why can't I make this out of wood! It took a few tries to get the circles the size I liked, but I love how it turned out! I thought I could make these in both a premade option as well as a made to order option.
And my next attempt is to make one out of colored acrylic!
I also made a pair of earrings to match one of my pendants. I like how the set looks together!
The only problem is, the jewelry category on Etsy is SO saturated! So I'm trying to decide if I should list these or sell them in sets or what. I'd love to take them to shows with me, but the friend I share a booth with makes jewelry, so I don't want to step on her toes too much either. But I sure am having fun coming up with new designs :)
Making Connections
At a show I did earlier this Spring, I met a fellow Omaha Etsy Team member named Jenny who runs Black Magic Studio. Her shop is full of beautiful jewelry including beading, wire wrapping and silversmithing pieces. She saw my pendants and thought it would be fun to make a necklace out of one of them. I loved the idea and couldn't wait to see the results. She listed it in her shop this weekend: I love how it turned out! Who knew my simple engraved pendant could turn into such a beautiful work of art! I love the wood beads with the suede flowers...I think they complement each other nicely. And they all tie in well with the butterfly pendant. I hope this piece does well and Jenny and I can work together again. What connections have you made lately?
Friday Features (on Saturday) Back to Work
As many of my blog readers know...I just returned to work this week. So what more appropriate category for Friday Features (on Saturday) than work!
This No Coffee No Work Pendant by glasstilependants caught my eye right away! I'm a coffee drinker through and through. I have to have my cup in the morning and in the afternoon. And it comes in pink!!!
This College Degree Magnet by mindseyecards is so fitting for the job I am currently doing at work! I will not complain and I will not be negative about having a job again...I just wish it was a little more challenging.
I thought this Teamwork T-shirt by jamjamtees was pretty funny! You've gotta have a sense of humor at work, right :)
This Rubber Stamp by ThePaperLoft speaks volumes about the working world. We all want to be told Great Work now and then :) Maybe I should buy this stamp for my boss so he can start stamping this on our pay stubs...LOL :)
No matter what task I am doing...I am grateful to have a job and be back to work :) Happy Saturday :)
A Friday Feature-Art Under Glass
Today I'd like to introduce you to Becky from ArtUnderGlass. I was lucky enough to win one of her Double Sided Soldered Pendants in a blog giveaway!
I just received my pendant yesterday and I was blown away!!! The craftsmanship is wonderful and I love that it has my initial on the back :)
I absolutely loved how the pendant came packaged :) It came in a cute little pink bag with matching pink, red, and white paper for padding. Very Valentine's Day! It also came with a hand-written note and some very professional business cards :) It is always nice when you buy something and it comes nicely packaged, but to win something and get this kind of service...that to me says a lot about a business :) A+ for wonderful presentation!
Here is a picture of the pendant I won :)
And here is me taking a dorky self-portrait so you can see the E on the back. Okay...quit laughing now!
Visit Becky at these locations:
I hope you enjoyed the feature and will give Becky a visit :)
