Tasty Tomato Thursday (and peppers too!)

I finally got to eat something from my garden!!! I was so excited to walk out and see RED tomatoes on the vines!!! It seems like they've been on there forever, but just wouldn't turn red! I've gotten a total of 5 roma tomatoes and two banana peppers so far and am still waiting for my first large tomato to turn red!

And check out my Topsy-Turvy Tomato plant! I can't believe it's actually going to produce! They sure aren't very big plants, so we'll see how they turn out in the end, but there are several flowers and one little bud started! How exciting! (Sorry photo turned out bad, so I had to edit a little so you could see the bud.)

I'd forgotten how big and crazy tomato plants get...this is only 2 plants right here!

I can't wait to sink my teeth into a BLT as soon as those large tomatoes are ready!!!

Topsy-Turvy Turnaround???

After I got back from my trip last week, one of the first things I did was check out my tomatoes and pepper plant. I was rather surprised with how my topsy-turvy had grown in the last week! Okay, it's by no means as big as my other plants, but they are still green and growing rather well :) It may be December before it produces anything, but I was happy to see it still alive!

I also now have 5 tomatoes started on my large plant.

And several starters on my smaller plant. I thought this was going to be a cherry tomato plant, but it is looking more like a plum tomato plant. They are looking long instead of round. They will taste good all the same :)

And when this pepper plant takes off...I'm going to have peppers coming out my ears! There are TONS of starters on it. I took a picture of the biggest one (not very big).

I can't wait to bite into one of these or enjoy them on salads and BLTs! The ideas are endless with fresh produce!

Tomato Update!

My tomatoes are taking off wonderfully! And the pepper plant is right there with them! I sort of gave up on the topsy-turvy tomato for this year. It is still green, but VERY small. If it actually does anything...I'll be sure to let you all know.

Here is my large tomato plant. No starter on it yet, but I'll bet when I get back from my trip there will be :)

My small tomato plant has a few starters and I'll be anxious for these to be ready! I love to eat them on my salads!

The pepper is right there with it and has few small starters!

I love watching everything grow and bloom! I just wish I had more patience :) How are your gardens doing?

Tomato Update

I just realized I haven't done a tomato update in a while.

I'm not sure what to think of my topsy-turvy plant. I followed the directions as best I knew how, but I'm not sure they're going to make it. They were growing so well in the pan in the house, but when I moved them outside...not so well. You plant the large tomatoes out the bottom and the grape/cherry tomatoes out the top. I checked on them the day after transplanting them and the large ones were already dead! I don't know if I over watered them, if I didn't plant them right, who knows! The smaller ones on top are still alive, but they don't seem to have gotten any bigger since moving them. Not sure if they'll make it or not. My plan for next year is to keep the basket they are in and use it again. But not buy seeds...just plant one that is already started. I was at my sister-in-laws yesterday and this is what she did and hers already has small starters on it...so jealous!

As for the ones I planted in the ground, they are doing well. I mulched around them and was hoping I wouldn't have to weed, but that didn't work either! As you can see from part of the photo...I only weed where I have to :) But both of my tomato plants and my pepper plant are doing well. Can't wait til they produce!!!

And I finally got this plant transplanted. I've had it for a year...maybe two! My mom gave it to me and I left it in its original pot up until the other day. Mom will be happy I finally got it replanted! I moved it outside because we have entirely too many plants and not enough window access! It was been there for about a week and seems to be doing well. I will just have to be careful when I bring it in for the winter...don't want any buggies in the house!
