Tasty Tomato Thursday (and peppers too!)

I finally got to eat something from my garden!!! I was so excited to walk out and see RED tomatoes on the vines!!! It seems like they've been on there forever, but just wouldn't turn red! I've gotten a total of 5 roma tomatoes and two banana peppers so far and am still waiting for my first large tomato to turn red!
First Harvest of the Season:

And look at all these peppers just waiting to be eaten!

And check out my Topsy-Turvy Tomato plant! I can't believe it's actually going to produce! They sure aren't very big plants, so we'll see how they turn out in the end, but there are several flowers and one little bud started! How exciting! (Sorry photo turned out bad, so I had to edit a little so you could see the bud.)
I'd forgotten how big and crazy tomato plants get...this is only 2 plants right here!
I can't wait to sink my teeth into a BLT as soon as those large tomatoes are ready!!!

  1. YUM!!! Can't wait for my tomatoes to ripen. They are fully loaded with fruit and I'm going to be busy once they do ripen.

  3. mmmm....there's nothing like home~grown tomatoes. I did get to pick 2 large red ones a few days ago, and the cherry type have been producing. I love romas, but didn't find one to plant this year.
So the right-side-up topsy turvy is going to produce. What about the one on the bottom?
I decided to plant small peppers this year because I don't have much luck with the large ones. My plant has been producing pretty well. Most of my tomatoes are in pots on my deck, but I have few in the yard.
Keep us posted on the continuing saga of the topsy-turvy.

  4. Nothing better than home grown tomatoes and peppers! You'll have to share any recipes you use with those banana peppers. I only put them on my Subway sandwiches - don't know what else to do with them!

My garden has been so battered by rain I have 8 tomato plants, and only one has a flower. Not even a hint of a bud. I think I'm going to have to give up for 2009 and hit the farmer's markets.
How do you eat those peppers?
