When I built my new studio, (pictures to come soon, I promise!) one thing I knew I wanted was a bubble wrap dispenser. Before, I just had the rolls or bubble wrap laying on the couch (my old "shipping station") and they were always in the way and always falling over or unrolling. When I got online to buy one, I couldn't believe how much they wanted for one...and I actually needed two! For a metal bubble wrap dispenser, they wanted $90 EACH!
When I told my dad about what I was wanting and how I wasn't going to pay that crazy price. He said to give him a few days and he'd see what he could come up with. Luckily my dad has the brain of an engineer, so this was a perfect task for him. A metal bracket, a bolt and some PVC pipe was all it took to make my bubble wrap dispenser...and he made me a double sided one too! All for under $15!!!
I love my new dispenser! It fits perfectly on the end of my new shelving/cabinets. We put two units back to back and the dispenser fits perfectly and sits directly behind my new shipping station. I can fit a roll of 3/16" bubbles and a roll of 1/2" bubbles on the same dispenser and as the rolls get smaller, it pivots, so the rolls are always against the cabinet so they won't unroll on their own!
When it comes to creative ways to save money, my dad is the guy to go to! DIY runs in the family :)
That is AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteWish your Dad would come over and make one for me for my tissue paper roll :)
I'm second in line after Duni! Your dad has his work cut out for him now!
ReplyDeleteThat is really cool!! That is way better than paying $90.00 each!
ReplyDeleteYour dad's a genius!
ReplyDeleteYay, Edi's dad! How awesome that he could help you. $90 is crazytown.
ReplyDelete(Also, do you ever just stand there and pop the bubbles?)
how cool is that?! and so great that your Dad just stepped in like that with the solution!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever design!! That will be SO handy! You'll have to give your dad an extra big hug this Father's Day!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool! Your Dad did a great job!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I honestly hadn't even though about all the bubble wrap you must have for packing up glassware!
ReplyDeleteYou are a very clever person.
ReplyDeleteThis is great!
ReplyDeleteSo clever! Good work dad!
ReplyDeleteKudos to your dad for solving your bubble wrap issue in such a clever way!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! It looks great.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! A huge money saver too!
ReplyDeleteThis is an accidental homage to your dad for father's day!
ReplyDeleteCheers for handy dads to the rescue...am glad you didn't have to spend all that on the dispensers!
Yay for your Dad, because this is really awesome! Your old shipping station is what ours is right now. Our bubble wrap sets on the table, and Baby Girl always unrolls it accidentally (or tries to pop the bubbles when no one's looking!).
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your new studio!
Awesome! Sounds like something that my hubby would do--only thing is-- he's good at designing (former engineering designer) but not at building!
ReplyDeleteWow! That's brilliant! You are going to be so amazed at how much more work you can get done because of solutions such as this. Way to go dad! Dads are awesome!
ReplyDeleteI'm late to see this, Edi, but I love it! I must show this to John . . . I think I want something similar in our basement.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, you finally got your very own bubble wrap dispenser! Now you have a place to store all your bubble wraps. That’s definitely going to help you a lot in keeping your packaging station more organized. Enjoy!
