House Update-DONE!!!

That's right...it's finally done!!! You have no idea how great it is to say that! New roof, new windows and new siding...all done!!! And it looks SO good!

Of course with any house project, you're never really done. Once you start, you see more and more things that need done! Now that we took off the awning in the front...that door looks terrible! We will definitely be getting new front doors soon! The storm door must have been put on when the house was built and the main door is a hideous color (that the whole inside of the house used to be painted)!

And now that we've worked on the outside...I want to work on the inside! House work never ends...LOL!

House Update

Did you think I was ever going to get another House Update posted? I was starting to wonder myself! A lot of what still needed done Jesse and I weren't able to do ourselves. And then the weather wasn't cooperating! I think it was rainy and windy more in September and October than it was in the Spring!

But this weekend we were actually able to get some work done :) And this whole week is supposed to stay warm!!! Keep your fingers crossed that we are able to get all the siding on this week!

Here is what the house looks like as of yesterday. We got all the house wrap on (gray) and most of the fanfold insulation on (pink). We still need to get up in the peaks, but we can start on the siding in the mean time.

We even got some of the siding started yesterday!!! It was so great to see it all coming together! We've been told that once the starter strip is on and the first row if siding is started...it's all downhill from there :) Let's hope so!

Here's to hoping I have another house update for you at the end of the week or beginning of next week with a completed house...fingers crossed again!

House Update-Part 3

Slowly but surely we are making progress on our house. We have run into a few snags here and there, but hopefully it will all be done soon!

Our house is at its "ugly stage" right now. I guess we knew it would look worse before it looks better. Without the siding, it really looks terrible!

And all of the windows are torn out with just the storm windows left in. Here is where we ran into some trouble. The base boards for the frames are all rotten! So now we get to rebuild them all before we can put the new windows in! YUK!

We did get one window put in though. At least one frame was still solid :) It looks so nice...I can't wait to get the rest put in! I painted around the outside of it last weekend. Now all that needs done is the caulking.

We've also gotten all of the holes drilled for the blow-in insulation. But we have to wait to actually blow in the insulation because of the windows! The insulation will just fall out when we pull the frames out! So we are kind of stuck until we can get all the windows done.

Very soon this work will all be behind us...and we will have a beautiful house to look at everyday :) It will be so worth it!!!

New Roof-Part 1

We FINALLY got started on our new roof!!! We had hail damage back in March and things have been so drawn out! I'm so glad we're finally getting started!

I took a before photo of the house so I could remember what it looked like before all the changes. The roof is actually just one step of our house upgrades. We are putting on a metal roof in charcoal gray. Then we are putting in all new windows and new siding in light gray. It will be so nice once it's done :)

Here's just the start to all the work yet to come. I want to take pictures every step of the way and make a mini album once it's all done! Can't wait to get started on that :)

We've run into a little trouble already though! I set some things on the couch the other day and wondered why the couch was wet. Then I remembered that they had to cut out a dormer on the roof and it had rained that night! The cut hadn't been sealed up properly, so the rain made it all the way through the house into the living room! Not what we were looking forward to! So that's why there's a tarp on the roof in the photo. I'm hoping for no more surprises...but I think I'm hoping for a lot there!
