DIY Boot Cuff Tutorial

A while back I showed you how to make a pair of boot cuffs out of an old pair of socks. Today's "tutorial" is much the same except is uses an old sweater. I feel almost guilty calling this a tutorial as there are so few steps!

Find an old sweater in your donation pile and cut the sleeves off. You can make them as long or as short as you like. They just need to be long enough to tuck inside your boots. I went a little longer with this pair for a little extra warmth :)
I didn't worry about hemming the bottom/cut side as they will be hidden inside your boots (and I hate to sew).

Next I took some cute handmade buttons from my stash and used matching colored floss to hand sew them onto the cuffs. I chose to turn down the cuff before sewing, but this step is optional.

Ta-Da...you have a fancy new pair of boot cuffs to wear out on the town! I made these on Saturday so I could wear them out for Valentine's Day :)

Been working on any fun crafty projects at your house?

Super Easy Boot Cuff Tutorial

Ever since buying my first pair of skinny jeans back in November, I've been on the lookout for cute boots and boot cuffs to wear with them. Then I realized I could make a pair of cuffs myself. I'm not sure I can claim this as a tutorial as there are only 2 supplies and not much for instructions. But I thought maybe this is something some of you hadn't thought of so I thought I'd share :)

Super Easy Boot Cuffs
1.Find yourself a cute pair of socks hanging out in your drawer.

2. Cut the socks so you have a nice wide strip of material. This pair of socks was short, so I used the piece between the heel and toe. A longer pair of socks would work great and you could just cut above heel.

3. Put your new cuff on over your jeans. (3b. Realize how hard it is to take a picture of your leg/foot.)

4. Admire your new boot cuffs along with your cute new boots :)

Okay, I told you it was a pretty simple "tutorial"!

Shadow Box Display Tutorial

As promised from yesterday's Sneak Peek, I have a fun tutorial for you today! I have my first Spring show this weekend and I'm working on new displays. It seems each season I have so many new items that I have to reconfigure my displays and set up. Displaying post earrings is one thing that I've found to be tricky. I normally put my earrings on folded cards and hang them on a display. Well, the posts tend to poke through the card backs when I'm transporting them. So I created a new display for them :)

I started with a shadow box I've had around for a couple of years. I bought these thinking I was going to make scrapbooks out of them and just never got around to it. It was high time I put it to use.

I cut a sheet of wood with my laser to fit the bottom half of the box. I took into account for the dividers and cut holes for the posts to go through.

I then painted it to match the rest of the box. I like the look of the bare wood, but with my earrings also being wood, I wanted to make sure they stood out.

Finally I glued the cut wood to my shadow box to complete my new display. I left the top three compartments uncovered for other items like cuff links and rings. Both the rings and cuff links are new items I'll have at this show, so I'm glad to have my display worked out for them as well!

I printed some price tags that I'll attach to the display so I don't have to individually mark each item...another bonus. I'll be sure to get a picture of the display in use this weekend :)

Weekly Feature

Thanks to my friend Ruthie at RoseWorksJewelry, I was able to add a new widget to my side bar today. I have decided to do a weekly feature showing off one of my items from my Etsy Shop. I had previously had a paypal store widget, but didn't like that it had so much info at once...and I wasn't sure how (of if I could) add different shipping costs for different destinations. This new widget allows me to feature just one item at a time and keep it fresh with a new item each week :) You can see Ruthie's tutorial here and add your own Buy Now widget to your blog.
Here is my first Featured Item Of The Week. I chose my Custom Word or Name Album first because it is my most popular item in my store :) Everyone loves that they can get an album personalized just the way they want it. And they make great gifts too!!!
I was able to add three separate shipping costs as well...love that :) So let me know what you think. Do you like this option better/worse? Am I giving enough info about the item? Are there other options you use that you like better? I'd love to hear your thoughts :)
