On Wednesday of this week I finally got out my old Rambler and took her for a drive! She hasn't been out of the garage all year and I had forgotten how fun it is to drive her :) The steering wheel is 4 times the size of cars today, you shift gears on the column (called a 3 on the tree) and I get so many looks from people who appreciate old cars :) My Rambler was my first car when I turned 16. It was my great-grandmother's car and my dad fixed it up and repainted it for me :) I've kept her all these years!
Here is a picture of me with my car on my first day senior year.
I was surprised by the amount of Rambler items on Etsy! It was so fun to look through the old adds and see the cool items made from Rambler parts! Check out what I found...

(Mine is a '63, but this ad shows the wagon that looks just like mine.)
Great car! I used to want one that has the wood look on the outside--I had seen one on an old movie and thought it was the coolest thing.
ReplyDeleteThat clock is great!
Awesome car! How fun, it's so great that you kept her all these years. There were a couple of cars that came and went over the years that we wish we had kept!
ReplyDeleteLove that picture of you and the car from your Sr. year!! Thank you for sharing!
Fun! And great finds on Etsy too!
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to take a trip down memory lane. My husband is from the other side of the country than we live now and they still have his first car (an MG). Every time we go home to visit he ALWAYS has to drive it somewhere. It's usually a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteTruly a heirloom! :) Hope it will be in your family for many more years!
ReplyDeleteSo cool! I love classic cars. We used to have a 66 Chevelle SS when we were first married..I still miss that car..waaaay too fast for a pair of crazy kids that we were then. I'd love to have one again now that we are older and wiser!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is so cool! Thanks for showing off your Rambler!
ReplyDeleteI had to drive a 62 Chevy Impala--with fins--when I was in college. It was old and kinda ugly--not in a cool way--then, even though retro. It would be awesome now!
My husband has a red 83 Alpha Romeo Spider--his toy car. Maybe I should show it off sometime.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! How often do you get to drive it? I've always liked classic cars. If we had the extra space to store one, I wouldn't mind having a Bel-Air. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome car! I love to drive, even if it's just my minivan. So, I can just imagine how fun it is to drive THAT car! So cool!!
ReplyDeleteThose American cars always look amazing to us Germans!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! We had a Rambler when I was in high school (not as cool as yours). We used to "drag Main" for small town Friday night entertainment, back when gas prices were low.
ReplyDeleteThat car is awesome!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you really enjoyed it! It's fun to see vintage cars when I'm out - they're really popular here in NH (or maybe I just think they are since I've never seen them on the roads so much in any other state). Love that color blue.
ReplyDelete3 on the tree and 4 on the floor!!
ReplyDeleteLove your Rambler -- I dated a guy whose parents had a turquoise and white Rambler wagon like the toy one you featured! My first car was a '64 VW Beetle named Penrod! But I got it in 1972!
Oh wow! That is one cool car :) Great features, too!
ReplyDeleteDelightful blog article...You're Rambler car is ravishingly retro! ;-) Thank you for featuring my vintage magazine print!
ReplyDeleteFun post Edi! Your car looks fun to drive! It's in great shape for almost 50 years old too! Great finds!
ReplyDeleteThat's so great that you still have it and it still runs! I haven't had a car for a long time. Sometimes I forget how fun it can be to drive. I'm guessing people who have to sit in traffic every day probably don't think it's so fun though. ;)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I drove the family "hand-me-down" a1950 something Ford Fairlane--really a big "boat"! And it drove like one!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! What a cool memory, and it's great that you kept it all these years!
ReplyDeleteHow neat that you still have the car after all of these years! Clearly you're not the only one who loves the Rambler. It's neat that there are so many Rambler items on Etsy. Love the old ad.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great looking car and your dad did a great paint job. He's so talented! Glad you took her out - she probably enjoyed it too! {:-D
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! This reminds me of my first car which was a 1970 Toyota. It looked like a box and if you were going in a circle, you couldn't tell if you going forward or backward.
ReplyDeleteIt is so awesome that you have been able to hold onto this family treasure! It is also an amazing piece of American history. Cool find on Etsy too!
