I attended my first Spring Show this past Saturday. I can't believe how much I forget from fall to spring! It's like going to my first show again every season! I always have so many new products that my set up is never the same, so it takes me a little longer than most people, but I think it's a great thing that I have new products every time :)
My booth partner and I did this show last spring as well. And though this show wasn't as good as last year, it was still a successful day :) For me, the sales don't always come the day of the show, but later on when people need a custom gift or are planning their wedding.
I had one family really interested in my Wine Bottle Candles for an upcoming wedding. The mother and father saw them and thought they would be perfect for their daughter's wedding. They also loved the personalized flutes, beer steins, invitations and guest books...WooHoo! The mother was so excited that she called and had the daughter and her fiance come take a look. The daughter loved everything as much as her parents...WooHoo again! And though I won't know until the order is actually placed, they seemed incredibly excited about my work :) This sale alone would make the show an incredible success!
It is hard to get back into shows after a long break, but that first show of the season is always fun. I am glad to hear your show went well and I'm sure your big sale will come through.

Ah yes, shaking off the cobwebs. I have a bridal show this month, which will be kind of small, but my regular outdoor shows start in May. I've been finding things in my studio lately and talking to myself like, "Okay, did I use this outside last year? Maybe I'll put it in the bag..." And you're right about the new products totally changing your setup. I have to work on that, too.
ReplyDeleteWooHOo! You'll get so used to shows, you won't forget a thing! It's great that mother and daughter agreed on things. Good sign! Great looking display shelves. {:-D
ReplyDeleteYou have a great attitude. Some people get so upset about not getting the sales they wanted at the show that they forget about the potential for later sales and contacts.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with the wedding order.

Congrats on getting the first show of the season under your belt! I hadn't really thought of that, but it makes total sense that for you shows are more of getting your name out there since you do so much custom work. Good to have the presence though!
