My grandma recently went through her whole house and cleaned and donated a bunch of stuff. In the process, she found some very special pieces of jewelry. One of which she saved for me! I was so honored to receive this ring!
This was my great aunt's wedding ring! It is extra special to me because she was my aunt Edith :) She is the aunt I was named after and have always felt a great connection to. I did not know her well as she died when I was very young. But I will carry on her namesake...and now her wedding ring :)
I couldn't believe my grandma was giving it to me! Even more, I couldn't believe that it fit like a charm! After giving it to me, my grandma asked if I wanted to put it back in the box. I said "No...I think I'll wear it". And it still sits upon my finger as I type this :) What a great treasure!

indeed! What a great treasure!
ReplyDeleteReading this post made me think of my grandma, just realised I miss her so much!
Thank you!
It's beautiful, Edi...and it looks gorgous on your finger!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had known my grandma, she died when I was little.
Its beautiful Edi, inside and out, just like you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful ring and it fits you well. Looks great on your hand.
ReplyDeleteI have a special piece of jewelry also. When my Grandmother died (I was 10) my mom had 8 cross necklaces made from the family roses that were on her casket. They dried them and turned them into beads. When I was in high school I broke my necklace. I was devistated. I took all the beads, stuffed them in a little box and never told anyone.
A few years later when my Great Aunt (my grandma's sister) died, my cousin gave me her cross necklace and said my Aunt would have wanted me to have it. Why she chose me, I don't know. But that makes it extra special!
So I know you will enjoy that ring for many years to come and every time you look at it, you will be reminded of the love and fond memories.
Ok, I've written you a book!
It's beautiful Edi and is a truly special treasure from your namesake!
ReplyDeleteThe ring is beautiful,Edi! And even more so because of the connection.
ReplyDeleteI have my grandmother's wedding ring and the ring from Pancho Villa's daughter (that is a long story). I like having these little bits of story even if they are plain and simple looking.
