Angela of Alice's Owl is our blog carnival host this week and one of her themes for us is Stress Awareness: April is Stress Awareness Month. How do you take time for self-care and help reduce stress in your life? Is there something you do each night? A practice that you do each morning? Something you do weekly or monthly? How does it melt the stress away for you? How does it make your body and mind feel? A great way to spread the awareness!
My favorite way to unwind and destress is with a nice hot bath and a cold glass of wine! I turn on the radio, read a magazine and just relax! I would love to have a hot tub, but I don't think I'd ever get anything accomplished! I'm so relaxed when I get out and I'm able to fall asleep right away :) I like to do this at least once a week. It's a great way to let my mind rest for a while and do nothing but relax!
Relax? What's that? :) Just kidding! I like to take a book to bed and read until I get sleepy. This takes my mind away from worries and allows me to be engaged in something entertaining. A hot cup of Earl Grey on the patio is good too!
ReplyDeleteI meditate each morning. It's the most wonderful way to greet my day, and I definitely notice the difference if I think I can skip just one day... ;) A hot bath is always lovely too!
ReplyDeleteI've tried a bath but it's not the same with paws smacking the water! It turns into a giggle fest for me! I have to read every night to get my mind off the stresses of the day.
ReplyDeleteI'm with the readers. It's gotten so that I HAVE to read or I'll never get to sleep! And only fiction so I don't have to think about anything! Don't know if this reduces stress, but it puts me to sleep! Baths? Nope - I'm a zip in, zip out shower girl!! But the wine, now there's a thought!! While I read that book!!! And have that sign in front of me : )
ReplyDeleteRelax? what's that? Just kidding! I love doing yoga, especially after a stressful day at work. I can slow my breathing down, focus, and really feel my muscles, my body- meditation is also good-although I can never stay focused for long!
ReplyDeletei sympathize with beadedtail -- used to love baths but now i have a furry friend who tries to drink my "people soup" while i'm in there! poor old kitty is always thirsty. give me a good book or some yoga instead. ahhhh!
